  1. I found an aitapsia in my tank that I need to kill. I heard the best way is to inject it with kalk solution. Do you know if I can get a syringe needle at places like CVS?

You can try a store that sells medical supplies;like canes bandage wraps;etc. CVS may have some but I am not sure if they are out on display. You may have to ask.

  2. Looks Good Stu,Thats exactly what I had in mind.Glad to see you loved the rock. Was that all of the rock or are there more pieces left?I can't wait to see the finished Full tank shot.

  3. Its probaly not profitable because there isn't one.I bet if we had a store here it would get alot of business. There are many reefers and people looking to get into reefing in D.C. but many have to drive so far to get to a nice store.

  4. I have a question about these 2 types of salts.I have always used Instant Ocean on my tanks but have never really had much success with my corals.I have always known of Reef Crystals but never used it.I am currently setting up a 20 Long tank for my son who as all kids wants a nemo fish.I will house a pair of clowns, anemone, clean up crew, couple of shrimp and maybe 2 other small fish( indecided).I want to leave the door open to maybe trying a few more corals down the road but don't want to switch my salt once I start this set-up.My questions is; Would Reef Crystals be better/ Or Instant Ocean? I know this is probaly a old topic but would like to hear some of your views or the 2 salts.Pros? Cons?

  5. Welcome dcreefer.Glad you can join.I am in D.C. also and would love to help with anything I can.Just give a holla!.Tank looks awesome so far.I had a 180 acrylic but it crashed after some zoas and Xenia went crazy and killed everything.I have since sold off my 180 acrylic and will get a 180 or 220 glass within a few months(waiting on my upper management approval ......LOL).

  6. Not to put a damper on all the expectations but we've heard of revampings of Wally's before and hippo tangs still cost $95. This is the basic problem: the fish are outrageously expensive and the coral frags are almost invariably over-priced softies.

This is not to knock Wally's on other things: can't beat their tank prices and their dry goods are generally reasonably priced.

I agree with WallyBackm here it is very over priced and they don't offer a WAMAS discount.I only stop through when I am in the area and see whats available. They do offer good prices on peppermint shrimp, and tanks however.

  7. Thanks everyone for your advice. I will get a couple of emerald crabs for my fuge and frag tank. I think they are kept out of my main tank because of the tangs or maybe the lawn mower blenny. I have been manually removing them and I think I am gaining ground. I will let you know.

One other thing. How large do the crabs get and are they knwon to eat fish in the tank?

I think the crabs get about 1.5-2".Atleast thats was the size of mine before I sold them.I got them at about .5" and they grew to that size.Never had a problem with them eating any fish .They mostly scavenged and ate the bubble algae.
