Hatchling

Hatchling (3/13)

  1. Anyone? I have some dry sand (Carib Sea Aragonite) that I'm more than happy to give back to you. I have a limited amount of dry rubble as well.
  2. Oop, meant to include that. I live in DC, work in Bethesda/Gaithersburg.
  3. After my tank crashed last March I am just about back up and running. My new 70g Oceanic is filling up with RO/DI as we speak. I'm looking for some live sand or rubble to seed with. Can anyone help me? I can pick up or meet somewhere. Email me at rentbaxley AT gmail D*T com (sorry, paranoid about getting spammed). Thanks, Rent
  4. GO SOX!!! I think i'm going to stick with the 29g. I'm only moving about 100yds away and I'm pretty darn good at moving tanks at this point. I think that between moving and a new job I have enough on my plate at the moment. Ugh...someday i'll have more than 29g! Thanks for all the help. R
  5. I have to be out of my apartment by the 31st of this month, but I already have my new apartment. I am considering setting up a larger tank (90g?) in my new apartment, adding some of my LR/LS to help seed the tank (maybe some old water too), and then adding my livestock. Woudl this be a bad idea? how much time would a new tank need? I have some dead (but beautiful) rock that I would add initially, an dthen i owuld transfer the 50 or so lbs of LR from my 29... or shoudl I just move my 29 to my new place and upgrade at a later date??? Thoughts? Thanks! Rent
  6. I've decided to part with them. :( Please email me if you are interested in giving them a good home. my emial is lbaxley AT assaydesigns DOT com
  7. The BTA is brown, greenish under actinics and/or 20k halides. i got the BTA when I had a 65g, didn't anticipate having to downsize... The BTA is tough as nails, the guy i got it from (also in boston) had been housing it in his sump WITHOUT lights. I felt horrible for the thing, it had actually lost all color (white). this was about 2.5 yrs ago and it has split about 2-3x since. This pic is using a flash on my camera. the BTA is usually more green looking. I still haven't decided if i am going to sell it or not. If I do decide to dump them they woudl obviously all go together.
  8. I had the same problem. I turned off the return pump and then used a dremel tool. I had a round metal grinder bit that was virtually identical width to the current teeth. No problems whatsoever, just take your time! One thing you may want to do is to use a small fishnet or similar to cover your return so not as many shavings circulate through your setup. I don't think it would particularly harm antyhign, just best to keep the shavings to a miniumum!
  9. I have run out of room for my BTA in my tiny 29g tank. It is constantly brushing/stinging my birdsnest and a table acro. I am seriously considering trading all three of them in for some false percs without a BTA. Do you guys think i'm crazy for doing this? The clowns are beautiful (got them as babies from Greg Hiller in Boston) but they are very shy and only leave the anemone for food (or to attack me while cleaning the tank). I"m thinking that I might get a bit more personality out of some false percs or other clowns (no BTA til i get a bigger tank). Thoughts? EDIT: They clowns are not maroon bar, that was a typo! they are Premnas biaculeatus (maroon clownfish w/ yellow bars!).
  10. I don't use the board often, so this may be "user error", but I am not able to load my own avatar. The image fits the specifications, but I keep getting the following: Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information. The error returned was: The upload failed. Please contact a member of staff to help rectify the problem Certainly not a priority issue! Thanks -Rent
  11. I don't have much to trade, everything in my tank is still pretty much a frag. Only thing I have is a green with purple ridged cap, or a TON of yellow polyps. I also have a large number of small cerith snails (originally from Greg Hiller in Boston). I am willing to pay for the table as well. Please email me at: lbaxley (AT) assaydesigns DOT com. If you ahve a pic that woulb be great! Thanks Rent
  12. Email me at L baxley AT assaydesigns DOT com. I would like to give these to a newer tank. i don't check the site often, so please email me. I am located in DC (40th and W northwest). -Rent
  13. I am in Glover Park. Anyone interested please email me: lbaxley at assaydesigns dot com I will give this stuff away, or if you have anything in trade that's even better! I am trying to head in the SPS direction (atlhough I understand that wouldn't exactly be an "even" trade!) Thanks for the help! rent
  14. My yellow polyps are spreading uncontrollably. is there anyway to keep them from spreading? Can I just tear them off of my live rock? anyone want some yellow polyps???
