  1. Wait until you have mastered your small tank. It typically takes about a year for a tank to become fully established.

For now you need to run your tank fallow for 12 weeks to kill off any remaining ich in the tank.

  2. Those are collonista snails. Awesome little grazers that come out at night., bonus...they breed well in captivity. They don't get any bigger than what you see now. Populations tend to explode then wane due to the availability of food.

  3. That sucks Steve. I've been there and done that. Mine were so bad that even dosing multiple times with FWE at higher concentrations, the little son of a guns would crawl around the glass mocking me for me feeble attempts to eradicate them. Luckily, the melanurus I picked up devoured what was left.

    Good luck with your battle!

  4. Hmmm, kid friendly? Not too sure about that. A few choices:

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Bob Fenner

Natural Reef Aquariums by John Tullock

The Reef Aquarium; Volumes 1-3 by Charles Delbeek

    Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman

    Corals by Julian Sprung

The New Marine Aquarium by Michael Paletta

  5. It's very common for the micro brittles to all spawn at once. Same for the bristlweworms. the worms may very well have been attracted to the brittle spawn. They smelled food and came out to feast.
