  1. I can’t find much info on that online but I’ve looked. Seems as though they burrow once and then that’s it. I’d love to make a rock “wall” in the middle of the tank to create a drop off effect, but I’m just going to play around with it for a while and see if I can pull it off. If not, I can’t say I didn’t try! The dry rock I got from amazon came in huuuuge 15 lb pieces so it may actually work without becoming unstable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. So my vision is along the lines of this.....but another bag of 40 lb sand and another 2 boxes of rock [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yes! I’ve read that article and I loved how comprehensive it was! I have a 180, and I thought that I would dedicate a 3 foot section on one side of the tank as their “spot” with a rock wall as almost a drop off. I want to do gorgonians, macro algae and lots of varying inverts. As far as fish, id stick to easy going calm species. My worry is the DSB. I never used them, I jumped right from dolomite to a shallow sand bed and never did a tank with a plenum or anything. I don’t know if the usual process of including lots of sand sifting inverts would be good for the eels? I picture them being bothered by inverts that want to stir the sand bed [emoji2372]. 5. Hey everyone! Just looking to see if anyone has ever had a tank with a dedicated spot or whole tank for garden eels! I’ve read a lot but would love to hear anyone’s experience. I know they require a lot of feeding, and a DSB around 8 inches among other things. My tank won’t be housing any LPS or SPS, so I can afford it to be a bit “dirtier” but I plan on handling that high feeding volume with a large algae scrubber and skimmer. I’m at the point in the hobby where I’m looking for a bit more in regards to specializing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Do you like it? Is it on a Seapora stand? I got the stand with the tank and it seems better built than many others. [emoji2372]. I don’t have the space to build my own this time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Check out this bad boy! I took the plunge and purchased a brand new Seapora 180 gallon tank! The Seapora tanks intrigued me because they have a glass center brace reminiscent of the old oceanic tank I owned years ago. Now that it’s delivered, I’m pretty impressed so far. Anyway, this is going to be a slower build.....I’m taking my time choosing equipment, plumbing, and sump design. Who am I kidding.....I’ll be rocking and rolling soon. I have holes drilled in my floor for a remote stock tank sump and I bet I’ll have water in it within 2 months [emoji2957]. It’s going to be an Atlantic biotope. I’ve done so many mixed reefs over the years that I’m looking for a challenge. Building a diverse biotope is going to be fun! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I’m in Frederick [emoji846]. And thank you! I look forward to joining in! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Sure! Right now I have a 32 gallon LED biocube that has a pair of clowns and a few mushrooms. As soon as we get our floors done in our house, I plan on starting a 250ish gallon tank, depending on dimensions. I have a great spot for a 7 or 8 foot tank, and I won’t do an 18” wide tank (I love the 24 inch width) so that should put me around 240-265 gallons. I prefer a sump room that I can get messy, so I will be plumbing to the basement once again to be able to keep a mixing station, a big Rubbermaid sump, and honestly to allow for my general nonsense and tinkering [emoji23]. I appreciate the help! In Pennsylvania, I had many friends in the hobby. We helped each other out often. Since moving to Maryland I feel a bit isolated lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I just joined WAMAS! I just wanted to say hello to everyone [emoji846]. I’ve been in the hobby since 1998, with my fancy aragonite, UG filter & lava rock. Now I’m in my mid 30’s wondering where i can put a large build without my husband losing his mind. [emoji2372] [emoji23] I have a nano tank at the moment, since we just relocated to MD two years ago. I didn’t want to dive into a huge build until we firmly put down roots, but it’s getting to be that time! Again, hello everyone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
