I'm pretty sure those are ceriths. I recently began having them reproduce in my tank as well, and growing fast! These look exactly like the baby snails in my tank.

Saw these in person today and they are definitely awesome looking!

By the way, for those who don't know, Robert was, I believe, the first person in WAMAS and one of the first on Reef Central to build a high powered LED light fixture and successfully grow coral with it. Robert's RC thread on LED lights for coral growth was what led me to finding WAMAS because he linked to his build thread here.
He also is the only person I've known to have actually seen coral spawn in his tank and has pictures to prove it.
He also decided to experiment with microbubbles to enhance coral health many years ago before it became popular to speculate about on R2R and RC and developed a system to inject them into his flow.
He also regrew colonies from single polyps that had fallen off during frag making or maintenance.
He also fought coral pests early in his tank career and as a result decided to not add any coral to his tank, at all, for years, more than 5 if I recall. His tank is the only one that I felt good about just getting frags and dropping them right into my water.
I echo Tom's sentiments that I sure hope he stays around given his history with WAMAS and the hobby.
In other words... he is the most interesting man in the world!

Looks like bubble algae. You can remove it manually but be careful not to pop the bubbles. I believe emerald crabs will eat it as well.

I've bought all my fish from Reef Escape or Quantum and all have been healthy specimens. I've purchased corals from Ben at Supreme Reefs, Quantum, and BRK, also all healthy specimens.
-
Got both of the alvelopora and the emerald on fire zoas. Thanks for the great deals!!
So that was you that outbid me on the alveopora! Hah.
I ended up with the party crasher and ATL cyphastrea, crimson micromussa, and outerspace psammacora.
All great deals! Thanks Ben!
-
Ah, thank you sir. Wish that cube deal was for a 150 though....
-
Seeing 999 here.
-
Where did see the info on the deal? Any other tanks this steep? Didn't see any black friday sale info on the site*.
*gonna feel stupid when you tell me it was right there on the page and I just missed it.

I sent that last one to my CEO on Halloween because he hates clowns. I still have a job!

Sorry, no meaningful input from me. I have been wondering about this myself, so I will be following along.

Thanks for the other suggesting. Wifi control is not 100% necessary but thought it would be convenient to be able to control it from my phone. I was looking at the four outlet wifi one because it was cleaner than plugging into the secondary outlet timer and then into the powrler source.
Thanks for the photoperiod suggestion also. I was planning for 8 hrs but wasnt sure if 6 hrs at full intensity would be too much. For comparison I only run my AI Prime over my nano at full intesnity for 3 hrs out of a 12 hour period. The rest of the time is ramp up/down. The T5 is a 36" 4 bulb fixture hoing over a 20L so I have it hung pretty high at the moment. I'm sure I'll need to make some adjustments once there is coral in the tank.
-
Yeah, wasnt expecting the full ramp effect just being able to go two bulbs for a few hours then all four few a more and back to two then off. I was thinking Actinic LED strip first, then 2 blue bulbs (blue plus), then the two full spectrum (aquablue and purple plus), then pack to blues only, to LEDs, and then off. Ramp up/ramp down lite!
It's going over a brand new tank, so that shoud help some with adjustment since the majority of the livestock wont have been under my LEDs previously.
How long of a photoperiod do you recommend? How long at full intensity? I know this is somewhat dependent on what I am keeping in the tank but is there a general rule of thumb for SPS, LPS, softies, etc.?
Alexa compatibility is pretty neat except my two year old has figured out how to use her already. Dont need him messing with my light schedule! Hah.
-
I am a T5 newb and have some questions about photoperiod with these lights. With my LEDs (AI Prime HD) on my nano tank I can program sunrise/sunset with ramp times etc. Is it necesssry to run T5s in the same manner? If so, has anyone used a wifi controlled with independent AC timers (see link below) power strip to control a T5 fixture with bulbs on different channels and independent plugs? Seems like this should work but wondering if I am missing something obvious. Thanks!

Wow! Really impressive!

The benefits of having a two-year old that rarely sleeps in past 6....
-
Yeah the photos work in the second post but the first attempt I imbedded them as just links to imgur because I wasn't paying attention.
The T5 is a 36" x ~11.5-12" four bulbs with moonlight LEDs (7 If I remember correctly) down the center. It's the fixture molcott was selling last week on the forums. At 36" its a little long for the tank, but was too good a deal to pass up for almost exactly what I was looking for. I figure since the tank is only 12" deep I can get away with hanging it fairly high.

The tank is now 6 months old (almost 7 actually) everything is still going well and corals continue to grow, including SPS. I do feel like the color on my SPS could be a little better and I think maybe that I had my light intensity set a little too high. I dialed it back a bit and the piece of red planet responded almost immediately. We'll see if the others follow suit. Anyway, here is updated FTS and some shots of some new additions and recent growth.
New FTS
New Acan growth
RFA trying to eat a small cerith snail and shrimp molt
And a few new pieces from Ben over at Supreme Reefs
Mystic Sunset Monti
Unknown highlighter green/yellow Acro
Suharsonoi frag
I've quickly filled up my EVO 13.5 so it's time for a second tank! Began converting an empty 20L into a DIY AIO about two weeks ago. Theres been a good deal of trial and error and one broken baffle, but finally got all the acryllic cut, drilled, and siliconed. I've been collecting new equipment during this time as well, including a used 4 bulb T5 fixture, new sicce syncra pump, cobalt heater, and a used smart ATO. Need to do a little more work with the silicone and waiting on one last piece of plumbing to be delivered from BRS and then it gets wet!
Here are a few shots of the almost finished product.
AIO wall with over flow and return
Rear chambers
Full set-up
This is going to serve as a frag tank primarily, so planning on going bare bottom with a real low bio-load to begin with, just coral and small clean up crew if needed.

I'm a donk. Let's see if the photos work now.

Thanks guys for the input.
Just my two cents, went to That Pet Place over the weekend and wasn't thrilled. Even after the 2hr drive, I couldn't get myself to buy any livestock. Too many fish were "flashing"... and I haveni room for QT... passed on everything and came home empty handed. Huge bummer.
I'll third this. My wife and I stopped in there during a visit to some family in the Lancaster area. While I can't remember exactly what put me off from buying anything there but I just didn't feel comfortable adding anything to my tank from there. My wife even made a comment about it maybe not being a good idea to put anything in the tank from there.
Anyway, not a traditional LFS (at least not yet) but Supreme Reefs in Springfield is a great spot for coral. Its by appointment only, so PM Ben through the site to set up a time if you are interested.

Yep, started as little black specks in the sand a few weeks ago now its any army of snails!
