  1. I use Build My LED 14000K and 20000K lights, the difference in color is also amplified by my iPhone. The last photo thats more white, i turned off the actinics and put the 14000K back on, so its more white. The other thing Ive noticed is that the fluorescent coloring in my corals has gone down. I think I may be using too much light, even though both my day lights (14000K and 20000K) are running near 75% max. Would running the actinic LEDs more help to bring up the coloring?
  2. Yeah I know the calcium is really high. I use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals and the only supplements I've been using is Sponge Power and Reef Roids. I use the Reef Foundation pro test kit for calcium, and ever since I started the tank the reading has been 500+. Any idea how to lower it to a more acceptable range? For those of you familiar with this test, I don't believe I'm screwing it up bc after adding the drops and scoop of powder, I have to add more than the 1 mL to see a color change.
  3. I have a green torch coral that looks fine during the day, but every night its tentacles seem to shrivel up. Here are some images: During the day, all happy: Towards the evening, starting to deflate: At night, fully deflated: Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: <2 Phosphate: 0 Calcium: 540 Magnesium: 1340 Alkalinity: 8.85 pH: 8. 1 Temp: 79 Salinity: 1.025 The other thing I'll add is that the tentacles also aren't as fluorescent as they use to be. Any suggestions as to what could be causing this?

  9. This crab came with my TBS live rock, and has grown to a pretty decent size. I had to move it to my sump because he started eating some of my filter feeders. He has red eyes and his coloring blends well with the live rock:
  10. It may be, i had the snowflake forms on my glass not too long ago. Ive been heavy feeding the tank phyto bc the sponges were starting to turn white from lack of food, and now these guys appear to be springing up. The biggest collection is on this sponge, and I can obviously take the sponge out and pull them out with tweezers. Any suggestions or natural predators i can let loose?
  11. I noticed these little guys the other day. They are small, white and have little branches extending out from the little pin head. Any ideas as to what they are?
  12. Also, any tips for actually attaching sponges to rocks with epoxy. I had the hardest time getting the aquastick epoxy to actually adhere to the rock with the sponges. Most are just put in place but I want to have them attached in a semi-permanent fashion. My next idea was to use some plastic toothpicks to possible provide some support.
  13. Ok, I've been feeding Kent Marine PhytoPlex and Microvert mixed together every other day to keep the barnacles happy. Ive also found some tube coral that i think need this food too. Any ideas to what types of gorgs i have in the tank?
  14. Ok made the album public, let me know if it fixed the images. I sure hope they live longer than that. I know a lot depends on my water quality. Ive heard the flame scallops also are hard to keep alive more than 6 months too.
  15. So I received the second part of the package this weekend and it was packed full of critters, sponges, plants, a flame scallop, a big decorator crab, and a starfish. The live rock that came with the second part also had more life/coralline algae on them so that was an added bonus. For sure I will be buying from them in the future when I decide to upgrade to a larger tank. Here are some images of the tank and plants if you guys can help with the identification. Heres the tank: And some plants: Decorator crab (with its back facing the camera) and the starfish:
