  1. Its okay. if BRK sells them I'm planning on buying one there. I'm asking because I'd prefer to support a great local business regardless of price (and yes I know BRK has great hardware prices).
  2. Heh. I was planning on going on Monday. I would have checked the hours before I drove out there though. Really I want to get out there soon anyways, but if they don't have these pumps I would like to order one online sooner rather than later (also I would prefer to buy in cash so my wife doesn't have to find out. )
  3. After a water change I took a small bowl of some tank water and mixed it 50/50 with 3% H202. I then dropped my frag in there for maybe 10 minutes. Rinsed it off and put it back in the tank. The palys opened right back up the next day as good as new. The briopsis did come back though. I repeated this process during my next two water changes and I haven't seen it since. I know this is a popular method for freshwater aquarists but I don't think it's typically used in reef tanks. A lot of people on another board I'm on have tried it with great success. It at least seems to be okay for palys/zoas. I think it will kill some SPS though (some people tried dosing the whole tank with it).
  4. A hydrogen peroxide dip would nip that in the bud real quick. I was in a similar situation with a frag of palys and had great results. Here's some before and a couple days later pictures.
  5. After almost a year, my clownfish finally decided he was ready to settle down. Of course it chose a colony of palys to live in, but I'm not complaining. Anyways...I was pretty excited so I took some pictures. http://steviebe.imgur.com/clowns_new_home
  6. Do you guys sell TOM Aqualifters? I'm looking for an excuse to drive out there.
  7. Yeah. I guess I was a bit vague there. I just know there are people in the club that live really far from the city. I've got a car so I can really go anywhere I need to go. Good call on Woodcraft. I wouldn't have guessed that they rent shop time from their website. I'll give them a call. Thanks for the help everyone!
  8. Hmm. I haven't read that you have to router the edges before. I figured it I couldn't get a water tight seam with Weld-On #4, I could just run a thick line of Weld-On #16 down the seams and it would hold. Then again, I've never done this before so i really have no idea. I figured with such a small container, it wouldn't be that big of a deal. Maybe I'm wrong though.
  9. I'm in Logan Circle. I'm making a small reservoir to hold water for an ATO. I want it to be really small (8"x8"x12") so it will fit in my tiny little stand for my 12 gallon cube. It doesn't need to be too pretty, but it needs to hold water. Any ideas?
  10. I would like to cut some acrylic sheet but I don't have access to a table saw. Does anyone know of a wood shop in or near the city where I could rent time in a wood shop? I'm assuming I can use regular wood blades to cut the acrylic, but it won't mess up their blades or anything will it?
  11. Haha. I can totally see myself doing that! I won't be fragging it for a month or two anyways, so I'm not too worried about it.
  12. This definitely does not help me out. Now there is a controversy! What to do, what to do. Just kidding. This is certainly a more interesting topic than what I originally asked.
  13. Wow. That 2 minute video was packed with good info. Thanks. I guess I really don't need a cutting disc after all. I just figured I'd emulate what the girl at the LFS did when she cut my frag.
  14. So I'm not only a fish noob, but am also a tool noob. I bought a couple of heads of frogspawn about a month ago. Now I have five. I don't need to start fragging yet, but at this rate I feel like I should start getting ready (this is my first coral with a hard skeleton). I've been trying to find a cutting disc type bit that will work in my electric screwdriver, but apparently my Google skills suck. Do I have to buy an actual dremel tool for this or just a bit for my screwdriver. Is there a difference in my electric screwdriver and a dremel? Can someone point me in the right direction, please? Thanks.
  15. Ah. I missed that before. Should I put her in it or him? Either way I guess I could see that helping. Thanks for the suggestions.
  16. Thanks. That's what I'll do then. If I end up taking her out though, she's not going back in there. I don't have another tank to keep her in and might as well sell her if it's not working out.
  17. They don't sleep together, but he does sleep out in the open (not in his cave) somewhat near her. They're definitely not fighting at night. The tank is a 12 gallon Aquapod cube. I hope it's not too small for them as they're not big swimmers like wrasses, etc. I have read many places that this setup was appropriate, but I guess he definitely doesn't have the option to leave her territory like he would in the wild and their small space probably exacerbates the situation. I guess I'll give them a few more weeks, making sure he gets well fed, and see if the situation changes. If not, I'll try to sell one or both of them in the For Sale forums I guess.
  18. I don't believe they are hosted by anything. The male spends 99% of his day in a little cave, but I attribute that to her and not hosting. I added a frogspawn a couple weeks ago and I'm kind of hoping that the female takes to it. I imagine that would give the male a little bit more room to breathe.
  19. I am making sure he is eating better now that I realize there is a problem. She's pretty adamant about making sure he stays in his hole even when she's getting fed. I've been overfeeding a bit this week and that seems to be distracting her pretty well. I really just want to make sure this isn't a normal part of their behavior before I get rid of one/both of them and I can't imagine that someone would want the pair. I can't imagine that someone would want a little raggedy looking male. I can't imagine that someone would want a @$%#&y little female alone either. They are occelaris I believe (I have trouble telling the difference between them and percula, but I'm 99% sure that's what I bought).
  20. So the male definitely has some nips taken out of his back fin and his color is not nearly as nice as hers. Is this just part of the sexing process or do I need to get rid of him or her or both?
  21. I have two Clownfish that I bought as juveniles maybe 5 months ago. A couple months after purchasing, one obviously started becoming more dominant than the other. They began to do what I believe is normal sexing behavior. The dominant female would nip at the male and then the male would do a little seizure twitch thing to show his submission. However, for the past couple weeks, I have noticed the male seems to be hiding in the rockwork almost full time. When I feed or clean the glass or anything, he comes out and the female chases him back into the rocks. I've been making sure that he is getting food, but I'm starting to get concerned that this is abnormal. Is this a normal part of the sexing process, or has she rejected the other fish?
  22. Heh...we'll see. I'll keep an eye on them. If they start rapidly spreading, I might take you up on that.
  23. Yeah, there are just so many different types of hydroids that I haven't found someone identifying exactly what I'm seeing. They don't really move like a snake, they just kind of float in the water column. I just checked them out again and they are all gone...I guess they like the light. Of course there is a whole new set of creatures that come out at night, but those worm/hydroid things are gone.
