  1. The stuff im looking at is called Phosfree and it says it is made out of lanthanum compounds....i just want to make sure this product is safe to use in the aquarium.

I would grab SeaKlear if i could find it since that what you guys know is safe....

I was planning on dripping it into my felt filter socks....will this work out ok?

  2. I just went into Leslie's pool supply and asked about the stuff, and they were pretty clueless.

Is there a non-scientific name it goes by that non-reefers can understand?

  3. By the time my T-5 fixture bites the dust, maybe they will lol. LEDs are expensive up front, and then in 1 year a better model will be out, you will get dirt for resale, and pay an arm and a leg for a new one.

The chinese fixtures may be the only way it's worthwhile at this point...

  4. I'm not sure that picture and the word happiness fit together. That tail is totally eaten to the bone lol. It looks like its backbone is sticking out....

  5. BRS is great for certain things like dosing pumps, RODI equipment, carbon/gfo, and dosing powders. Other than those specific things, they've made me a little sour once or twice and I can't say I would be totally shocked.

I would definitely be 100% sure they deleted it. Then I would repost the review. If they do it again, I would definitely send them a scathing email and call them out on misleading their loyal customers.

I got a couple wrasses from Coral Hind today and they are doing great and get along with the others.

Here are the pieces doing extremely well at this point..the torch was shriveled with not much hope but on the rebound. The other 2 pieces are starting to thrive.

Tomorrow is cleaning my water mixing brute, all powerheads and pumps in a diluted vinegar mix. Water changes are going to be about 10 gallons every 4 days for a while.

Nice to see progress. Also, i think my rainford goby is eating the tiny pellets off the sand and picking some off the rocks. Every time i put them in there, i notice his stomach plumps up a little after ive left him alone for a few hours.

  7. I have been 0 for 2 on candy stripes and would not bother getting another. The tiger pistol i had on my previous tank settled in immediately.

  8. leave it in the fuge where it can get food easier and doesn't have to compete with another fish for the same stuff.

That was my original thoughts. I'll just keep on the current path and see how things go in the coming weeks.

  9. Yep ive got plenty in there which has been established for about 8 months. It definitely sifts through a little sand in the fuge. I put about 50% of the food on the sand and the rest on the rocks.

Im contemplating putting it back in the dt where there is more sand. Ill see how it goes over the next week and make the switch if it might be better. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't competing with the melanarus for pods, but maybe it won't make a difference...

  10. how is your copepod and amphipod population?

It is quite healthy in both the DT and the fuge. I also added a bottle of tigger pods and got a shipment of pods and other microfauna from IPSF to add to the tank last weekend.

Like I mentioned, I have seen him picking a little something off the rocks here and there, but I cant see whatever it is he's eating. It could be the tigger pods because they are tiny. I would feel better if he would eat at least something I drop into the fuge for him lol

  11. Thanks for the offer Ron. I'm actually heading over to Dave's this weekend to grab a little from him along with a couple wrasses, so I should be good to go. Hopefully the little guy will cooperate and wolf down a little cyclopeeze.

  12. How is the little guy doing? Have you tried the frozen cyclopeeze? They are small pods that seem to be accepted easily for small mouthed fish.

Still pretty skinny Dave. I've tried feeding nutrimar ova, microvert, jans food, live brine, 0.5 mm new life spectrum pellets, and it doesn't seem to have any interest in any of it. I added tigger pods to the fuge I have him in, but they are so small it would be tough to tell if he's snacking on them or not. I have some freeze dried cyclopeeze, but may have to go grab the frozen stuff and give both a shot and see what happens.

I do see him periodically picking at stuff on the rocks but cant really tell what it is.
