  1. All - first off Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Looking to see if anyone has any experience/knowledge on a good relatively inexpensive ($200 range or under) Indoor Scurity Camera or Monitor I could but to allow me to keep an eye on my tank while on vacation.

I know the Apex can give me alerts but I want to be able to see how things look for piece of mind and also to be able to walk a neighbor (who has zero reef tank experience) through trying to fix something that may have gone wrong.

    Thanks in advance!!

  2. Like Eric said, YouTube and you will see how to do just about anything you need to do. The fans are very easy and cheap to replace (they may be just stuck) and ballast and power cords are also not very hard just make sure you follow the directions and have a little patience!!

  3. I've been using them for years , they are amazing for acrylic, just get the plan old original ones without any added stuff to them , I cut them in half and attach it to my mighty magnet works wonders

I have done this as well for many years and have had great results. They really work well and are safe!

  4. Does anyone have any experience using the EuroQuatics Blue Pop bulbs? If so, how do you feel they compare to the T5 blue bulb you replaced? Also I know this is probably like comparing apples to oranges considering the price difference, but if you have tried them how do you think they compare to the ReefBrite blue strip lights?

    Thanks,

  5. I agree with Eric (epleeds), I have also been running ATI T5 fixtures for a long time and I am sure the dimmable feature is fun to have I do not personally see the need.

Also, Monkiboy has a brand new 24" 8 bulb ATI he is selling right now for a very good price.  And yes, the 24" length would be plenty for your 36" tank.

  6. Eric - thanks for the reply and sorry for the slow reply. I was out of town for the weekend.

I agree with you that it is a favia or in the favia family and yes it does have sweepers at night. I am adding (hopefully) 2 new pictures and these like the others are taken under full lighting. The colors are yellow centers or eyes with purple around the eyes and then kind of a neon green outlining the purple. Also a few of the eyes are a more of an orange/reddish color - can see them in the center of the frag.

Just would be nice to know what this is called because I have never seen it before.

    Thanks again,

    Tom

  7. So I have a breeding pair of Gold Bar Maroons.  Every time I put my hand in the tank on "her" side she tries to tear me a new one!!!  If it wasn't for the fact that they spawn every few weeks and may be the reason my Rainbow RBTAs split almost every other week, the female at least would probably be in the Potomac River by now :)  Pretty fish, especially when they are small, but my female is now at least 3-4" and very dark and mean.  However I must say, neither of them bother any other tank mates at all - JUST ME!!!!   She even pounds on the rubber gloves when I am in the tank working :)  Will see if I can get a pic tonight.

  8. I am looking to replace a few of the sockets and a ballast on my ATI Powermodule (8x54W) and want to make sure I order the correct parts. I think the sockets I want are the Non Shunted ones but was hoping someone could verify. Also, I have not yet taken the fixture apart but I think it has 4 separate ballasts that power 2 each T5s even though the power cords fire up 2 and 6 bulbs respectfully. Currently the 2 and only 4 of the next 6 will light even after numerous bulb switches to test. Again, can anyone with more experience verify this for me?

    Thanks in advance,

    Tom

  9. Wade - I also used these same fans for years in my 240 canopy to cool 3x250 MH and up to 6 6ft VHO bulbs(old school). I actually ran them in both directions - blowing air in or pulling it out and both ways worked. Also as Jason stated, very cheap to buy and replace if needed. I remember buying mine through an electrical supply store.
