Had a similar brown mark on my powder blue once, only on one side though. It went away on its own. Have a sailfin too so may just be boxing for nori! Good luck and hope he gets better, otherwise nice looking fish.

Pull the thread tightly enough around it and you will end up with 2 frags as it will attach than split around the string!

Having struggled with cyano myself for the last 6 months or so (running an oversized UV on my 65) I can say no to that effect. But it is true.......Water change Water change Water change! Not untill I got under a STRICT routine of changing a little over 30% a month that I saw a reduction in the rate of grow back. Still not completely gone but now I can go a week without it covering the sand! Really I get tiere of reading it and im sure it gets exhausting saying it but being diligent in maintaining chemistry and lighting is a key to keeping out the pests. Hope this helps, I think I answered the question.

I was going to suggest fragin it up or at least cutting off the infected area plus one line of healthy zoas hoping to get rid of it.

Agreed Steve at T. Lagoon will do right by you for sure. It is always good to hear of a successful LFS to try and get by and support. After all some of us WAMASrs have got ponds, and FW tanks as well!

I don't have any personal experience with the 2 together but remember another member who posted a pic awhile ago where they were in constant battle. Zoas open in some areas and gsp in the others. I think in he long run GSP dominates sadly. post a pic it would give a better idea. And as for the mat covering the rock negating its chemical abilities
I would think the bottom of the rock is still open and able to diffuse the chemicals out. -
OK it has been way too long. How is everyone. I Moved in April (right at the 8 month mark for the tank). Boy was that fun.....did not loose any fish. Did however loose a few of my corals, mainly the sps which were tests to begin with. I still have my tyree-tri-color doing well from reefhunter and a peice of green slimmer. Most everything else survived the new scaping and everything. The clowns have moved into the anems and have actually laid eggs over the past week!!! Battling cyano still, fuge got destroyed and has been rebuilding for the last few months. When I get a chance I will start up a new thread and include pics and more updates there.

Just got some extra mighty putty from a friend and was wondering if anyone knew if it was safe to use for fixing frags to LR and what not?

When you are talking about the sand being a detritus trap.......crushed coral is for sure one, but the finer sugar grained sands do a lot better job of just having the detritus bounce along the top with goof enough flow. I think I read you are doing under gravel filtration/powerhead? With that many pieces of smaller LR I would think that detritus is going to build up in between the smaller rocks where flow cant reach. Just my 2c, just hard to tell from the pic.

I 2nd most of what was said previously, QT for you fish is almost the only way to go ich is not fun to treat in a DT. The flow will depend on what you will be trying to accomplish and the aquascaping that you end up with, the powerheads you have now should be fine for any softies LPS you decided to start with. The order of adding fish I agree with. The Tangs you will hear this and hear that about how big of a tank, what kinds to keep together....basically beware the tang police. One thing that wasn't mentioned is that people sell live sand and live rock all the time on the FS/WTB section. That is where you can get a great (the best) deal on equipment and LR. And research the fish (damsels
) just my 2cKeep asking questions and have fun........oh and be patient.

Well I would just move only the rocks that have the coral growth. You can try to remove them but in the end youd probably do more harm than good. I would just plan that rock for the reef tank and just put a substitute rock in the 50g. In any event the new rock in the 50g tank will eventually become a live rock.
+1 on this. Just use the rock in the 120 and get a new one or move something from the 120 to the 50.

Trust me if you don't have the 20 to put to the membership (will result in lots of free or greatly reduced goods) probably wrong hobby. You could go buy a frag of something so so for 20 or get in the SWAP here and have loads of stuff for free! Just my 2c.

your going to have to remove it by hand most snails and hermits are preventative measures that will keep it slightly more under control after you get rid of all of it and make sure your water quality is up to par. You probably have some funky chem going on if all you fish have passed and now you are getting HA. (may be turf algae also)

last bit of advice. Pay the 20 and join WAMAS before getting any other equipment or livestock. It will be priceless in the end. Good job so far and sounds like you are planning it out well.

My tip is to take the 20 and get your WAMAS membership you will be ablet to look at the sale forum and save bundles on corals, lr, equipment, and not to mention priceless info from the members section!

Ok not to drag on so read the thread and most of what I would say is there....
blue legs. I like emeralds 
. and I personally feel that because they have not been mentioned everyone should try a sally lightfoot! they are tanks and pick the rocks cleaner than any blue leg, clean up dead stuff. As far as a crab goes they are all "opportunistic omnivores" but I have only ever seen mine defend itself from pesky damsels, clowns, and tangs. My 2c! -
First off this is just my 2cents and others will chime in with theirs. You should filter through all of it and ultimately you will fall upon what you thin is best for what YOU not anyone else is trying to accomplish. Feeding all I can say is just dont over feed, feed what they can completely eat in a few min (adjust as you go) additives will guide you on how to use them (Most are not needed at all and can be maintained through steady H2O changes) I have SPS and LPS and Shrooms, zoas, pallys..........just dont keep anems next to sps and read up on aggressiveness of all your corals and you should be fine.

I got certified at buddy dive about a year and a half now, and am lucky enough to be going back for a week for X-mass. I will be able to see some changes myself I'm sure. Pics are great, the fish are def the main attraction, but I can not recall much stags myself. Klein seems to be a bit better off than the main island.
Thanks for sharing the pics, and thanks to everyone for chiming in and helping to bring forth the devastating facts.
