    +1 when you send money as "personal" there's never a fee.

     

    Doesn't this hold true for only when your acct. is linked directly to your checking acct. or when there is a balance in your paypal acct.? I just sent someone money as a gift and they still charged me a fee because there was a remaining balance on the transaction that had to go on my credit card.

    I have personally had STN/RTN occur from water that was too clean and have seen it stop within a day when carbon dosing was temporarily stopped and nutrient levels were allowed to rise again. This happens to me from time to time and I learned to see the signs of it happening early. I load the water with amino acids and oyster eggs and stop dosing for a few days and everything goes back to normal.

     

    I'm not sure if this is relevant to your situation or not, just throwing out another possibility besides alk swings.

     

    Do you mind sharing what some of the signs are that you see in order to catch it early?

    Work ran over time, I just got home to find my acros dead and nothing salvageable, the crab is still hanging on. I feel horrible not being at home to help save them. I'm not sure what to do now. I don't have any other acros for the little guy, only sps are montis and such. Nothing with any substantial branches. Can he survive without his host home? I have a pico he could stay in, or I could lose him in this 180 or my 75. He's a defensive little guy and my earlier thoughts about the hawkfish subsided when he went after my fingers for picking up his dying house but I'd still rather him have a place to go.

     

    I feel terrible and embarrassed that I killed his home, it was neglect and laziness on my part for not insuring that the water quality and everything else was in check.

     

    I'm not too sad to say I bought the beautiful coral mostly for the crab. He's the most adorable that I've seen and I don't want my selfishness to cost him his life. What can I do?

     

    The other sps and other corals aren't showing much as far as distress if anything. I'll try to get things in check tomorrow if I can.

     

    I'm certainly not buying any more livestock until my build is finished, I'm sick of watching things die in "holding tanks" without proper equipment because I didn't finish this back in the fall.

     

    Sorry for venting, this has been a bad week for my tanks. sad.gif And thanks everybody for the help, ideas, and good wishes.

     

    Yeah the crab can live without a living host coral. Maybe help him out by throwing some food his way once in awhile.

    I guess I do not like the lull in the Reef Crest mode and I have so many obstructions in my 5 foot long tank that I feel that I need to have a stronger current running in the tank to create the desired level of turbulence.

    If I ever feed, it is usually at night when the polyps are usually out. As for setting the MP40s, I run my in lagoon 100% all day long. I used to run them in night mode, but I did not see much difference in what was going on in my tank, plus I think the polyps on the sps like the flow.

    Question about Chalice

    If it is the one I think it is, this chalice seems to have more vibrant red in lower light. I would say the increased number of eyes is a very good thing and that it is really growing fast and likes its conditions.

    I bought it secondhand but I believe it is model no. CD-909968 on Fosters Smith's website but then I see it referred to as 3581 elsewhere.

    I have an Eheim feeder that accidentally fell into my tank for a few seconds but I dried it out in the sun and with some rubbing alcohol and it was back to working order like nothing happened.
