Donmarco July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 I'm having some problems with algae in my tank (photos attached). The phosphates test at .16 ppm, ammonia, nitrates and nitrates at 0. I also have a biodenitrator and phosphate reactor in the sump. Last week I changed the reactor media. Any ideas?
khh27 July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 They could all be that low because the algae is feeding on it making it that low.
khh27 July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 What's the age of the setup
Donmarco July 15, 2015 Author Share July 15, 2015 The tank setup is 7 years old. I did have an equipment malfunction in early May and lost all my corals and most of the fish. I cleaned everything up and maintained the tank for almost 3 months before beginning to restock - added 5 small fish and then, a couple of weeks later, 3 small coral frags. The algae appeared before restocking began. You suggested that the algae could be feeding on the phosphates, giving me a false read. How do I obtain an accurate read? khh27 July 16, 2015 Share July 16, 2015 There really is no way I know to get the pre consumption reading. You said you had equipment malfunction? What was this malfunction.
khh27 July 16, 2015 Share July 16, 2015 Also some of the equipment may be accumulating junk if not regularly cleaned and aiding nutrients
