khalid October 23, 2009 Share October 23, 2009 I finally installed my i-tech 100 cone skimmer with the Tunze Hydrofoamer 9410.04 Monday night which replaced my G2 skimmer. I am still dialing it in but already had to clean it out this morning and all I have to say is my skimmer cleaning job just got nastier. This is the G2 cup after a whole week of skimming and I had been out the previous week and my brother ended up over feeding the fish so it had a lot of poo to work with. I ended up doing 2 water changes that week to make sure everything is back to normal. http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...816968038665874 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...816974264473394 The 2 collection cups side by side http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...816999112772130 The i-Tech 100 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817007420203858 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817009969348258 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817198152712946 i-Tech this morning before cleaning out. I installed the skimmer Monday night and am still trying to get it dialed in the way I want it. http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817210195782818 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817226248759106 http://picasaweb.google.com/KAlghussain/IT...817235850404514 This thing really pulls so far and is dead silent! I will get more pics Sunday night when I do a water change and clean the collection cup to see how much it pulls next week. Sorry about the links to the pics but I am a idiot and can't figure out how to post the pictures so they show up on the thread. I hit the "insert image" button and put in the link to the photo but it still didn't work. :(
reefkeeperrob October 23, 2009 Share October 23, 2009 I'm really happy with my I-Tech 100 as well. I bought it to replace my noisy sicce powered Octo Extreme 200 about 5 month ago. I'm also running the Tunze. I don't know if it's standard equipment now or not. I was one of the first ones to get the Tunze. I would consider the I-Tech basically plug and play and it works awesome, I can barely hear it in my dead silent bedroom. With the Octo I was always screwing with it trying to make it work right. I can't remember the name of the guy that constructs/sells them but he was really helpful as well.
khalid October 23, 2009 Author Share October 23, 2009 Ya John at Fish and other Ichthy stuff is a great guy and very helpful. I bought the skimmer used from someone on RC but he was using it with the aquabee pump. I called John and ordered the Tunze pump and he also sent me the parts they have updated on the skimmer for me to replace so the skimmer is up to date and the same as the ones currently being sold. I would definitely recommend this skimmer from what I have seen so far. Hey reefkeeperrpb how far up do you have the water level in the skimmer body? reefkeeperrob October 30, 2009 Share October 30, 2009 khalid, I'm sitting in class now so I can't measure the height of the water. It's not important to me personally. I just set the bubbles to break about an inch below the base of the collection cup when I start it up. Just out of curiosity what is the picture of? Cool thanks that is about were I have it set as well and that thing is kicking but! The only bad thing Is not I have to clean a stinky collection cup twice a week instead of the once a week, sometimes longer, I use to with the G2. The photo is of the G2 collection cup after running for 8 days during a heavy load that week. The i-tech is pulling 4 to 5 times the g2 ever did in a week and I don't even have a heavy bio load. I don't know if that is what it is going to pull all the time or just until it gets what the G2 missed. Definitely very happy with the upgrade!!!
