inedukated February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 I've been having hair algae problems off and on for about the past year. I usually do 2x5gal water changes every week, which is about 10% of my total water volume weekly. I scrub the algae off the rocks/glass before every water change and try to siphon out the algae. Here's what I've noticed: Hair algae ALWAYS starts on one rock in particular. I must have 20 different rocks, totaling 70lbs, but one rock always develops hair algae first. Is this common? Should I just remove this rock? Also, my anemone is attached to the same rock. Suggestions?
dhoch February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 Try removing the rock... As for the BTA if you can split the rock and just put the part (hopefully small) that he is on back in the tank and see what happens.... OR move the whole thing and see if the BTA will move (not sure if you want him wandering around the tank Dave
YBeNormal February 24, 2007 Share February 24, 2007 From what I've read, some types of rocks have high levels of phosphates. Just a guess but that rock may be one of them.
