Can you put your live rock into a friends aquarium for a month? If so, do it.
-
In the back under all the rock i have a shelf of lighting crate like you see in the LFS. Then the base rock above that is tied with plastic ties. Then the rocks on top are aranged lose so that I can move them if needed. Has worked well for me for over ten yeasrs in this aquarium.

I run mine with an ice cap ballast and change them very 13 months. If you are using a tar ballast, change them every 6 to 8 months.

Right away you should tell us what is wrong. not just 2 thumbs down. Not very helpful. I have been going there since 1986 and only had a problem once with customer service.
And what do you mean by only 15 minutes away? Away from what? That store, your house?
I live in Dale City and have not heard of Exotic Aquatics.
Thanks.

Hey
If you are bored come n over and clean my aquarium, plug algae, inject aiptasia, rewire the electrical components. Whenyou are done with that, one bathroom needs re-tiled.

first time i read about this in the scuba magazine three years ago, they were not talking about damages yet but I thought about chemicals in the tires.
I did not even think about the weight of the tires. this really bites

You guys need to stop comparing lights, etc. with Germany. I am confused here in the US. I am German living here in Virginia. In Germany I had MH, here I tried something else. Whenever I visit and talk to my reef buddies in germany I see the same division of MH and T-5

Out of curiosity, why did everyone on here drill into their liverock?
To easier attach cable ties without being seen.
-
A drill bit for wood is what I used.

Glad to see Wal Mart is doing that. But you find dead fish everywhere. Petco and Petsmart policy is to scoop deads EVERY hour.
Been there, done that.

Welcome to H E L L ! Got them too. It is my understanding that when cut they will just multiply. For seven years I had a copperband butterfly and no aiptasia. When he died they came back with a vengence. I bought another copperband but unfortunately it died after four days. Now I have one more butterfly, see how he will do.

For years I have been running power compacts on on side of my aquarium and VHO's on the other.
I have not been happy with the power compactsd performance, price and longevity. For the past three months I have been looking and learning about other lights then finally decided to go with metal halides.
Looking at all the input here now I am not so sure anymore. I seem to favor T-5's now?
Call me confused.

Good one.Murphy has no algae either. We are suffocating in itThere is a formula out there for this by a man named Murphy.
If the cost of tank inhabitants exceedes the cost of replacing the food, toss the food. If the the inverse is true go ahead and feed the tank.
Sorry, I couldnt help myself....Murphy usually plays a big role in anything I do.

Well, here is a really scientific answer:
If you would still eat it keep it.

Bob,
When you add a reply scroll down on the reply page until you see "File Attachments".
Click on the "browse" and your computers pix files should open, click on the pix of your choice and it should
go into "file attachments" then click on the right "Add this attachment"
if that does not work then resize your picture.

How do you keep the salinity level in your make up water?
Does your system add the salt automatically or do you add it?
-
I run a garden hose from the Aquarium to the shower. Gravity feed works fine. My make up water is sitting higher than the sump. gravity feed with a one inch hose.
30 gallon water change in about 15- 20 minutes with little or no hands on.
-
I use Black Diamond from MarineLand.
Charcoal pulls out coloring agents and keeps the water from turning yellow or green.
I use 8 ounces for a 125g and replace it every 2 to 3 months.

Most damsels can be very aggressive.
do you ever see them chasing anyone else around?

One inch of Freshwater fish per gallon of water is accurate but goldfish have a much higher metabolism. For all goldfish the rule is 7 gallons per inch of fish. Yes, even more than salt. And I certainly don't want to offend anyone here BUT, using fish to cycle a tank is murder, even a "feeder" gold fish. A life is a life (no, I don't go to church).
It's more humane to just pee in the tank once a day for a week (and no I am not kidding), the ammonia in your urine will cycle your tank.
I feel people in stores should be taught correctly when they misinform customers.
