Fire fish tent to jump when spook! I usually keep the top on the tank when I have these guy, check around outside of your tank on the floor for evident. It also like to hind in the small hole of LR and if it scares of other fishes in the tank and won't come out to eat, it might die and quickly been eaten by the cleaning crew! I love saltwater cleaning crew!

Your tank must doing well to have these type sponges, don't kill the sponges! it's good for the tank natural filtration cycle first pic.
second pic majano need to get rid of it. it will do more harm than good for your tank!

If you are using Glass temp heater make sure it not broken or crack which mercury will leak into the water and it will kill everything in the tank slowly. It happened to me many year ago. My 75g tank started having issue everything start to die slowly but I can't find the problem. Fishes stop eating, corals start to bleach, LPS no longer open same with the RBTA's? One day I start tracing everything from top to bottom finally I found the glass heater in the sump was cracked and all the Mercury slowly sipping out. I hope this is not what you going thru! Keep us posted on your problem.

Cliff,
I had those before, very nice fish but hard to make it to eat hand feed food. anyway if it not train to eat frozen food then you can go to the fish store buy some silver fish it likes minos. poke the small fish on a feeding stick and wig at the lion fish pretent it alive, hopefuly it will eat. I train my that way, They will eat when they hunry. only feed them every other day or couples day. Good luck! update us.

yes, break the tip off so it won't slowly kill the frag. Once the algae deposit it will slowly kill the frag tissue
small maxima clam
in General Discussion
if you see your clam not open all the way with full mantle in a week then it in the process of dying, such small clam is a bit difficult to keep if you don't have efficient supplement feeding and light, but if you already have clams in your current tank and it doing well there a good chance the small clam will do well! good luck! keep the update!
