4. Good morning!  We are looking to get out of the hobby and have an incredible custom setup we are looking to sell.  I can pull together all of the specifics this evening but top-level items including a custom Miracles All Glass Aquarium (~336G), a Synergy Reef Sump, 3 EcoTech Radions, 2 MP60s (I believe), and a ton of miscellaneous items. We also have around 100 pounds of live rock and the tank still have some show-size occupants as well we'll need to re-locate prior to breaking down any part of the system. We're located in Woodbridge.  I figured I would post here before anywhere else since we greatly enjoyed our time in this community and the meetings!

5. I was curious as to what it mixes up as parameter wise. I imagine of it being given some award for best new product had me curious when there wasn't any readily available info on it.

It seems as if that info was released in some additional videos.  Here's what I got from a variety of sources:

• Alk: ~9 dKH
• Ca: 440 - 440 ppm
• Mag: 1,350 - 1,400 ppm
6. I am looking to start a new tank which will be in in wall tank that will have to be a fairly precise size. I am looking to see if anyone could recommend (or if anyone here is) a tank builder.

I am essentially looking for something like the attached picture.

The first question is whether you want glass or acrylic. If you want acrylic, there are a number of places including some WAMAS Sponsors who can help you out.  If you're looking for glass - which is what I wanted for my custom build - it's a question of timeline and cost.  I think ReefSavvy makes some of the nicest glass tanks out there (and I got a quote from them) but waiting 9 months was just too much.  I ended up using Miracle's outside of Toronto and have been very pleased with the build quality thus far.   :)  Other glass manufacturers I looked at personally was AGE, Planet, and Custom.  All of have their pros/cons and following, but I think you have to balance the timeline and cost once again.  For me, Miracles was in the dead middle (maybe a little higher than middle actually) of quotes I got but I got the best feeling in working with them.  Good luck!

7. Im surprised, Ive never had or read about issues with DD. Liveaquaria yes, but not DD. Velvet is a tough one and kills quickly, hopefully you were able to get everyone in treatment before it got to far.

Yeah had to move very quick, setup a ~100G HT in less than 24 hours. We did lose the two most heavily infested fish unfortunately, the Harlequin Tusk (which is the one that brought it in) and our Achilles Tang.  Everyone else has been doing great thus far in HT, so we'll see how everything plays out.

Love the build by the way.

Thank you!  If anything good came from this it would be I'm getting a chance to re-aquascape now that the tanks has been up for 6 weeks or so

8. After having this issue a couple times, I decided after the last time I had to let my tank sit fallow for 12 weeks, that I would never put another fish in my tank without QT. I either buy my fish from ERC or LiveAquaria Divers Den. Both QT the fish and are very reliable. If I have to have a fish from a LFS, anthias and angels are always so tempting, I set up a 40 breeder and follow the medication process in this video:

I have not had a single sick fish, not a single spot of ich or anything else, in almost 2 years now and have added 90% of the fish in my system over that time span. If you go this route though, dip all new corals and if you add rock to the tank, only add dry rock. While the chance of picking up something from a coral frag or from live rock is almost 0%, its still not worth the risk.

The fish that came in with Velvet actually was from Diver's Den  ;) I've also seen a few other threads recently on other forums about some coming in with Velvet, so I don't know if maybe they've had an issue with the protocol and/or handling temporarily. In any case, after removing all the rocks yesterday I was able to catch everyone and they are now in the HT with copper.  Definitely going that route moving forward!

9. How is the Zeovit working out so far?

Going really well, I've also started dosing the LPS and Amino Acid bottles as well (in addition to a weekly dose of AcroPower). Unfortunately I just had a fish come in with velvet which forced me to get all the fish out today.  So looks like I'll be corals only for the next 76 days

10. Zeolite, zeostart, Cyrano clean, Aminos, sponge power, phols , b-ballance. I think a few others I can't remember right now.

Interesting.  I've kept it simple thus far - I used ZEO for the 10 day cycle (which worked beautifully by the way) but have reduced dosing to just LPS plus pumping the stones daily for now.  I'm going to resume regular dosing based on some feedback but everyone is very happy thus far including the fish and coral!

On a side note, here's a FTS from this afternoon.  Everyone is settling in beautifully and since moving over the 90G inhabitants, I've seen a much different tank with everyone out/about during the day including at feeding time.  I literally just sat at dinner tonight and watched the tank for about 15 minutes and it was beautiful.  Can't wait to add the next ones (both corals and fish)

11. Very nice job. I also use Zeovit. Good stuff but recently got a dinos that won't go away. Looking forward to the updates.

Ah that sucks!  What additives are you doing in the Zeo system?

Also, second part of the breakdown series is up on YouTube!  Still working on the FTS but this gives you some better views of the tank head on near the end of the segment.

12. My swing is usually no more than +/- 0.2 and I also use an opposite lighting schedule where the fuge light comes on around the time the main tank lights go solely to blue/nighttime mode.

13. So just a quick update for today - we're officially a one tank family again    I spent a good part of this morning/afternoon breaking down the 90 Gallon DT which, among other things, housed the majority of our fish that we're moving over to the new system. I'm glad to report overall the move went very smoothly and I documented (at least the first part of the breakdown) in the second episode of JORO's Reef which you can find on Youtube below! Hint, the second part is going to be pretty awesome (dealing with acclimation) including a clip I might turn into a meme

Despite the breakdown, all the fish we moved over have settled in very nicely and very quickly - I almost think they had a mini reunion since we moved over a few of their tank mates earlier in the week.  I had a chance while filming the latest episode today to also take a few quick pics including some of one o my favorite fish - the Cooperband Butterfly.  Hope you enjoy!

14. Everything I've read - and done personally - when setting up new tanks is to run everything like you would normally including the lights, skimmer, etc.  I'm also not sure if it makes a huge difference but that's what I've always done and it's worked well for me

15. Just got back from RAP NY 2017 and wow, what an amazing time!  It was a great opportunity to meet a lot of folks, discuss the hobby, and (perhaps most importantly) see and score some of the hottest corals out there!

I didn't take any photos in the event itself - figured there would be more than enough coverage online - but did focus on getting a select few corals I'd had been looking for. The haul wasn't huge, maybe 10-12 total corals, but I really enjoyed all the pieces we purchased.  My wife also got in on the action hunting down a beautiful frag of blastos I've been looking for and what can I say, I'm a lucky guy to have some an awesome wife who enjoys this hobby as much as I do!

In addition, this my first chance to really use the Building an Obsession (BAO) Frag Transport System and I can't even tell you how impressed I was overall.  It's the little things that made a big difference when I got everything home including (a) the measuring lines on the side (so I knew how much CoralRX to use), (b) the space between the rack and the container which made it super easy to mix up the coral dip once I put it in, and © the ability to pull out the entire rack which made it really easy to go up/down during the dip to shake critters off. Here are a few pics of me transferring everything over in the hotel.  Essentially I had all the corals bagged at the show, transferred them into the BAO (which already had fresh saltwater in it I prepared before heading up to RAP), and packed the entire thing in a nice cooler that I packed with peanuts to retain temperature.

The final haul includes two different blasto frags (with a mini colony), two zoa frags, a bubble colony, an awesome blue/gold torch, a few SPS frags including a green slimer, two gonipora frags, and a very nice carpet lobo!  I haven't take any full tank shots today as everything looked pretty unhappy with the dip but with the blues on tonight they definitely started opening which was very nice to see and that blasto my wife found, absolutely stunning even from across the room given how neon it looks.

Next projects for this build are the installation of the external pump (tomorrow or Tuesday) and then working on starting to break down the 90G later this week and transferring the corals/fish over to their new home! I also started raising the Alkalinity today from 6.3 dKH to 10 dKH where is what I'm aiming for.  Once the level is up where I want it, I'll start dosing Calcium, Alk, and Mag from there on out through the DOS pumps!
