Thanks for the coral deal and even throwing in a couple others that were on my list. Great service and good looking corals!

You need a controller for that. If you need the one with AC plug, you have to get a non controllable one.
Where can I find one at a reasonable price

What supplements should I use for Alk, Calcium and Magnesium? Is there a buffer that covers all three?
-
So to start I can rely on water changes. But I need to work on getting testing kits for Mag, Alk and Calcium?

14g cube with MH lighting. I used to have a 55 and a 75 that I had SPS in but I want to add 2-3 SPS corals to this smaller tank and see how it goes. Do not currently have supp's or testing kits for Calcium or Alk
-
I have had SPS in my tanks before but I never dosed or did anything outside of normal water changes- things seemed fine.
I am adding:
jedi mind trick
starbust cap
toxic green tort
Anyone want to give any suggestions/advice or general dosing information that may be useful?
Thanks! -
I recently added a GBTA to my tank to compliment my 2 clowns. In the past i have either had clowns that went to the nem right away, and other times where I could never get the clowns to hang out in the nem. In the past it usually goes one way or the other without me being able to fully encourage clowns to try out the anemone. The clowns have not given the nem much notice yet.
I know there are several theories out there on this! In the past I have put food in the anemone to coax the clowns to go into it, and I have done the pictures on the side of the tank.
Any opinions or advice on this?

I suggest you add a fan so blow between the light and surface of the water so that the water temperature does not go up (just in case)
For sure- any suggestions or just a regular fan?
Have plans for a nem, acans, chalices per my usual tank likings-but I am also considering a couple SPS just to see how they do in the nano. Have had SPS in larger tanks but think it might be worth the challenge in a nano

Nice little tank! What wattage is the MH? Any problems with heat?
70 watts
I had issues with heat the first couple days but with some change to the room temperature I have gotten it down to normal temps.

Thought I'd share a picture of the only chalice I have. At least I think it is a chalice. It's bright pink with orange eyes, growing quickly now on the bottom of my tank under 400W halides.
Yep, definitely chalice. Nice!

Lolololol
OHHH the things you need to learn...
Xenia and other softies can smell foul if outside of water for a bit...it's the mucus they make...
No need to glue it to anything..just use a rubberband and band the bottom to a piece of rubble..glue usually doesn't stick anyways...
And no it's just a slime coat...but that smell will be with you for days!lol
+1 glue wont work with softies. Just use string or rubber band to loosely hold the bottom down on a rock or frag plug and a couple of weeks later it will be attached

Are there any saltwater fish stores in DC? If not, what is the closest or any accessible from the metro?
-
Hey there!
I just moved to DC for law school. I am from Colorado and did my undergrad in Wyoming. I had several saltwater tanks, ranging from nano to a 75g. I miss the hobby and am looking to get back into it.
That said- trying not to spend the kind of money that I used to with my big tank. <edited>
Thanks!
MACNA 2015 in DC!
in General Discussion
Couple questions- sorry if they have been answered previously.
First, can we get a shirt at the event?
Second, if we buy the $40 registration can we go for the day and come home with frags? The site doesn't really say if coral will be for sale or when.
