  1. PS….impossible for any babies to survive in a reef tank. Eggs must be removed and placed in a different tank, with air stone/heater only for about 3-4 weeks. Then they con be moved to a grow out tank with filtration.

  2. I use chemiclean for red cyno usually 1 time with every new tank at some point....mind blowing how well and quickly it works....not sure how it works with regards green cyno. Chemiclean and water changes I bet will solve

  3. For now I actually super-glued around the tubing connection to get a good enough seal for it to work...,,,,I think epoxy would of worked better, unfortunately I was out and didn't want to wait 2 days for more to arrive. Ridiculous having to modify something straight out of the box! I have to say other then the poo-poo connection, the unit itself looks good.

I was coming from a Skimz DB4, which had small acrylic tube connections which work 110% perfect, with perfect instant seal. I only gave it up due to the smaller storage containers.

  4. I just want to share....I just bought a vertex dosing container 5L.....the tubing connection to these are garbage and will not hold a seal, which draws in to much air, preventing the pump from being able to prime and dose......I specifically bought this due to the 5L size......the "john gust" is a major flow to these units.

Shame on vertex!!! Otherwise the container body itself is well built.

  5. I am about to go thru an upgrade on my reactor setup and I am currently using reef octopus reactors....but I will still share.

Mine does exactly what you say yours is doing when I have to much gfo in the reactor, or fill the reactor roughly half way....filling up the reactor less and Then there is alot more of an even tumble. So maybe try with less gfo.

I do not believe you really have to worry about gfo breaking apart.....itd only carbon where you want, no tumble, with slower flow.

  6. Buy some turbo snails and problem solved. Whenever I start up a tank with new rock, there always seems to be a large hair algae growth pop up after a few weeks....1 round of turbo snails and its completely gone after a week. i would do about 10 of them for 65 gallon tank
