[Ati bulbs, Orange corals look pink, what bulbs to choose.]

Got the fixture used, just checked and there are 2 blue plus, a coral plus and a purple plus. 

I have seen the comparison charts but I'm not sure what spectrum is needed to help the Orangish hues pop.

I am needing to change out my bulbs in my ati sunpower 4 bulb fixture. I have noticed that zoas that are supposed to be orange are showing more pink. What color bulb/combo would show the orange better?

I'm going to reseal both in and out just to be safe. But do I just do up until the plastic peice that separates the front and back? If not how do I reach to know I have a good seal.

Uggggg seems like if it's not one thing it's another with one of my tanks lately. The latest of my woes I need help with . Yesterday I woke up to 3 or 4 gallons missing out of my biocube 29 and all in my stand and on the floor. Come to find out the hose that goes from the return pump to the nozzle to the display had somehow managed to wiggle itself loose. In turn spraying all the water up and out the back of the lid. Had to empty the tank down to the sand and a 1/4 inch or so of water, putting everything in a rubbermaid. Took the tank off the stand so I could hose out the stand and dry it out. . . Noticed a tiny puddle on the table I had put the tank on. Didn't think anything of it and wiped it up... A few hours later and after moving it around a few times a smaller puddle, maybe 10 drops max was there.. Upon further inspection I discovered a few spots on the outside seal of the front glass are leaking.. More like weeping Than actual leaking..... How do I fix this.. Do I have to reseal just the outside? Or both inside and outside? Also I know it is known for water to get between the bottom glass and the plastic when the tank overflows or leaks from the top. Could this be the cause? If so do I need to take any actions, or will it eventually just dry up if there are no more spraying incidents?

So, I ended up doing what I posted. Emptied the tank, vinager sprayed the back followed by hydrogen peroxide. All aptasia melted within 5 mins. Scraped all the sides of all 3 chambers, rinsed several times, and used a shop vac to get all the nasty water out of the back. Refilled the tank, added 2 peppermint shrimp. One is lazy, the other is a beast and immediately went to work on the aptasia in the display. A week later, no crash, parameters all look great and not a spec of aptasia to be seen, front or back. The gsp on the back wall took a few days to recover, but I did loose a frag of Monti I had mounted on the back wall due to it getting some peroxide on it that dripped through the intake grate. All in all well worth it to prevent a further breakout, as it went from just a few to taking over in a matter of a few weeks.

I cant take the back off line due to the way the intake is designed, the tank basically has to be empty. My plan of attack is going to be to transfer the corals in that tank to my 2nd tank and empty the tank. Then empty the first chamber all the way out. Then i will spray it down with a vinegar, let it sit for 15 mins of so, then rinse while draining at the same time so none of the nasties get into the display. Then for good measure, spray it again, but with hydrogen peroxide, let sit and rinse really well. this should take under an hour, so my gsp on the back wall should survive, especially if i lay a wet paper towel on it so it doesn't dry out, After lookin back there again last night, there are about 10 huge ones, and hundreds of small ones, so I think that would be my best option. Then let the peppermint shrimp keep the ones in the display in check. Thanks for all the advice guys!

Ok so about 6 months ago I noticed a few heads of aptasia in the first chamber of my bc29. Never saw any in my display. Well I got a second bc about a month ago and moved all fish to that tank for the time being. Around the same time, the power supply for my leds blew, and due to a few issues that came up in ordering a new one, I just got my lights up and running. I was running a 75watt cfl bulb for 5 or so hours a day on the tank, to keep the gsp and montis that grow on my back wall alive. Well today after I got lights up and running I notice my tank now has 20+ baby aptasia all over it, rocks sand, glass... Everywhere. I plan on getting some peppermint shrimp to handle these as they are all still real small. My main problem is how to get rid of the 5 or six huge ones in the back that the shrimps can't eat? I can hardly fit my hand back there as it is and I surely wouldn't be able to see to inject them. Do I risk it and try to scrape them off and let the shrimp deal with the repercussions? Help!!!

 I am tired of the never ending fight of finding the perfect flow, added heat and noise. Any one with any input on why I should spend the extra $15 for the newest version? This will be going into a BC29, and will be the only one so I don't care about the wireless Master/Slave capabilities. Is one quieter than the other, and what about heat from either one, is one more noticeable than the other. TIA

[algae infested zoas frag]

About 6 months ago I had to tear down my tank due to hair algae and scrub everything with a H2O2 solution, also dipped my frags. I had 2 things in my whole tank that did not survive. I think it is species dependent as well as the overall health of said coral. That being said, I have not seen a single strand of hair algae since then, and I had been losing a VERy hard  battle with it since i switched to leds. Next time try diluting it just a tad more if your worried, It doesn't take much to kill the algae.

yeah I dont run the stock filter, but i do have  homemade media rack with a container of filter floss on the top with the water falling directly into that, and I think it picks up most of the nastiness. I have not noticed a big difference in my numbers with the cheato, which ive been running for about 6 months now. I do almost weekly water changes of 6 gallons, sometimes more like 2 weeks, if things get crazy. I think I will switch back to no cheato and make something out of the rubble.

how do you prevent the rubble from becoming a detritus farm though? Or do you think the cheato is just as bad as a detritus collector? I currently run cheato, but am thinking about taking it out because its a pain to scrape the glass back there every week to get rid of the algae, but like my pods that live back there.

I got a frag of what i think is a favia of some sort at the FF. I did a dip with the bayer pest spray as directed on here.  While making my nightly rounds, i was checking out the new frags for anything that may be lurking and i noticed what seamed like some sort feathery feeler coming straight out of the mouth. It was pulsing in and out every second, and the mouth would open and close as it came in and out. I tried doing a search but couldn't find anything, besides that some feathers do grow on brain corals, but there is no tube and it was more claw shaped than a round shape like the feathers i have seen, and it is directly on/in the mouth. No tentacle like feeders like there should be, but its looking rough still after being fragged.  Any ideas, as i dont think this is normal, but ive never had favia before. I will try to take pics/video tomorrow night.TIA

So after lights out it started stretching out some and i was able to get a good pic of its foot using a small flashlight. Here are the dots I was talking about. It is not as clear/blue as the pic makes it look due to the spotlighting affect, but it doesn't have any color to it besides maybe a tinge of brown.
