if you need to connect to your router, i'd recommend the following: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Actiontec---500-Mbps-Powerline-Home-Theater-Network-Adapter-Kit/5215483.p?id=1218625358741&skuId=5215483
works great and uses your existing powerline to send data... plug one end to your router and the other end into the location where your tank will be... and it's plug and play, no programming necessary. For the router, you'll need to access the admin page on the router and configure port forwarding... not to complex if you read the manual.
for your extra credit question, the short answer is yes, but i wouldn't waste a slot on the EB8 for the Radions... they have their own great wireless control and it would be a shame to not use it. Save a slot on the EB8 so your apex can control something else.
by the way, you can use the same ethernet over powerline to resolve the issues you mentioned with your TV and DVR
-
yes, it's safe to use in the DT

Mike,
sorry to hear this... emerald crabs are opportunity predators so there is a potential for this to occur. take he crab and put in your sump if possible.... although spearing it and steaming with some old bay might not be a bad idea.
you can use malafix to help speed up the fin growth and healing of the jaw. If you have a skimmer, make sure to turn it off first or it will go crazy with foam.
with time, it should recover nicely.

If you get the Razor, go with the 16K version, not the 10K. The 10K will be a bit more yellow. We've got several customers with the Razor 16K and they are absolutely stunning. Sleek, thin and bright.

4 Blue Reef Chromis
Pair of snowflake clownfish : I already have them in another tank
1 Flame Angel - potential coral nipper, but otherwise awesome fish with great colors
1 Flame Hawkfish - I see empty snail shells in your future, but othewise cool fish
black cap basslet - Better shot with orchids from ORA
Yellow Tang
Kole Eye Tank
Yellow watchman pistol shrimp pair - You have yellow tank, for variety, get a yasha haze with candy stripe pistol, the perfect combination
Pair of neon goby’s - the new hybrids look really nice
Bicolor blenny
And after a year or so a pair of spotted mandarines
if you are going to have a top on the tank, fairy wrasses, so many varieties and the colors are amazing
anthias
other notables with great color: royal gammas, helfrichi firefish, blue spot jawfish (need a top)

Bring these questions and and whatever else you have on Friday and we'll go over them.

Plenty good.

if this helps, we ordered 2 of the 350W to see what they would look like a couple of months ago. They are hanging above our large frag tank. it's enough to cover a 48x36x16 tank... 16 inches above the water surface. Yep, 2 pendants covering that size tank... all the corals have responded very well since we switched out from our previous led fixtures, great color and shimmering... The Kessils, along with Acan LED Fixtures, have become our LED fixtures of choice and both are highly recommended. We will be stocking both the 350W and the 150Ws (Sky Blue, Ocean Blue, Deep Ocean Blue) along with the goosenecks (which we definitely recommend for a nice clean look). They are on route and should be here by weeks end or early next week. If you'd like to come by and take a look, let us know. We'll have the various units on our tanks so you can determine if they suit your needs as well as they exact color to get.
they also have a calculator you can use on their site to see how many fixtures you would need to provide full coverage, although we've seen generally the 350W coverage area is around 30x30 and the 150W is around 24x24 if hung about 12-16 inches above the water surface.

Welcome Dave. Thanks for stopping by and chatting with us last weekend. It was a pleasure to meet you. Urging sounds like such a forceful word . I think the better word to use would be advised . Pics look great and your well on your way. You'll find that there are lots of folks in the Manassas\Gainesville area that are very helpful. Looking forward to seeing the progression of your tank... and eventual upgrade to a larger one
-
I only see a green one which looks to be a ricordia.
-
Don't tighten when it's already on the nozzle since it won't be able to tighten all the way. the trick is to secure the zip tie to the the tube a tad bit smaller than the nozzle, than force it on the nozzle afterwards. I've been able to secure a tubing almost a quarter in larger by doing it this way
-
I use zip ties to secure the tubing. Works great and holds tightly
-
Thanks all for your suggestions. It looks like there is a number of options. My tank is 36 inches wide, 15 inches depth and 26 inches in height. I have a t5ho retro (4x39w) and 2 vho super actinic right now that my friend is lettin me use. I can use it till I figure something out. No hurries, but since it's in my living room, wanted something nice
-
I like those Mr. Aqua tanks. Cheaper version of the ADA tanks. There's actually a member doing a tank build with one. Obviously the biggest issue is the size and the fact that it's not drilled but for a nano tank, I think they're among the nicest looking tanks.
Very cool. is there a link to the tank build. I'd like to see it. Also wondering if it can be drilled.
-
My friend let me borrow his T5HO lights for my new setup until I can get new lights. I was wondering if I should just look solely at LEDs since I hear that's the latest craze or stick with T5HO. I don't want to go metal halide since I have an acrylic tank and am afraid it may melt or warp the tank.
-
I have a few of these tanks and wondering if they were good for reef tanks. I was going to part them, but maybe hold on to a couple for future use.
-
Welcome. The folks on this list have been very helpful to me. Make sure to read the posts that interest you and attend the meetings.
Thanks. I'm planning on being at the Frag Fest next week so hope to meet everyone there.
new Quiet One is LOUD!
in General Discussion
totally understand... that was the same situation we were in... it was like was hoping that it would die out since couldn't justify purchasing another pump... 13 months of pure agony
