I should have shown you how my dosers work when you came by.
I went from io salt, to Reef crystals, to dosing.
never did Kalwasser.
I paid about $250 for a doser and it is programmable
I am splitting it into the maximum doses per day just to keep anything from spiking
I still need to monitor that the resulting level are where I want them to be
But I test it less and less as I get know how the corals should look.
I like the consistency that dosing provides
once a month I need to refill my 1 gallon jugs
and other then that it takes care of itself.
I try to keep higher levels CA 500, Alk 11, Mag 1300+
but everyone has a different OL

Why did you make me go thru 35 pages of the last live sale just to see what MIGHT be up this time?
Are we setting a closing time for those 400 items?
I saw a lot of comments about "My girlfriend/financee/wife wants to go outside"
-
I use Arig-Alive fuji pink sand
-
I use a controller.
and I love the results from dosing two-part
I still use "expensive" Reef Crystals
Not sure if that's overkill ...

Her 40G would make a nice sump
But she needs to keep the fish somewhere during the build and cycle
(and it has to fit under the stand you are getting)
It might be easier to get a 20G or 28G used tank as the sump, just add glass or acrylic baffles.
Get the 90G drilled, then use a submersible return pump, or drill the sump too and use an external pump (but this might be louder)
Good Luck!

Can someone explain the difference between the d2040 and the it2040
I assume it programability, but what specifically can you do with one, that you can't do with the other
it2060 is just 6 inches wider than it2040?
If I have a controller (which I do)
can I do the same effects on the D2040 as I can on the it2040?
I assume that the advantage to 2x it2040 vs 1x it2080 is coverage?
it2040 is 18" and it2080 is 36"?
Any and all help appreciated.

Didn't Jan's mandarins spawn?
I don't think she did anything other than good husbandry.

My AC III Pro got wet (imagine that, around salt water all the time)
I unplugged everything and let it dry for two days, but I may have fried the head unti.
Does anyone have one I can borrow, rent or buy?
(didn't want to put this in the for sale are, unless that is where it belongs)
Thanks,
Matt

I was able to make mine work last night
ofcourse, the firewall at work doesn't like me going to port 8081 - shhh don't tell anyone
but I run my aquacontroller on port 80, so ...
I can get to it from my tablet
BUT
when I try to get to it from my phone I tried to "USER IP Cam Viewer"
Has anyone made that work?
I have the right IP and port,
but I think its mad about the type of camera I should select

totally every other month.
its all about timing

I missed the 2 for 1 sale on Reef2Go pods
:-(
But I started my NanoCube cycling
Ordered a new bigger filter box for the Nano
I'm setting up a phyto culture
and I got 2 ac/dc air pumps as a backup for this winter

Matt,
I only work down the road from you.
if you need me to bring all my test kits in tomm,
I can do that.

If the Mag Drive 36 is still operational, I'll take it

Piling on,
I'm looking for large diameter flex tubing
(its not for my tank, but maybe I'll bring it to a social sometime)
I'm thinking like 2" ID
It looks like SPA Flex isn't potable
is there anywhere to get clear vinyl that thick?

It is also covered if the tank happens to fall through the floor.
Maybe I will upgrade to that 200G tall then ...
(wood cross beams in my condo, no idea if I'm actually perpendicular or not)
My home owners coverage already covered an RODI leak into my neighbors unit

i did mean 88 ML not Oz
and I do spread the Mag out over a few days manually
I thought 100ML/Day was not unusual
I test my Cal and Alk every week and if its low
I manually dose some and increase the daily allocation a little bit to find the sweet spot
(its not very heavily stocked)

BRS has a calculator
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/reef-calculator
it will let you take your system volume and figure out how much to add (the first time) to get to a stable level
After that you need to test.
Once you see how much its going down over time
you can start to dosing alk and cal.
You should test Mag early, but later not as often. (adding tons of Alk with low mag is going to precipitate)
I dose 22 times a day 4 oz each time of Cal and Alk on a mixed reef 90G
the directions I've always been told for mag is one gallon as soon as the gallon of cal and alk run out (so I add it all at once, about once every 6 weeks)
I do worry about spiking my Mag - my snails act drunk when my mag gets too high too quickly.

did you buy a mated pair?
or did you just get lucky?
(can you "sex" yellow wrasses???)
Congrats, btw

I have a 90G mixed reef,
it came with a Coralife SuperSkimmer 220
It has been sufficient in pulling out skum.
but the impeller is giving me trouble
Can anyone identify this pump from the pictures
The pump seems like its working,
but if you look at the impeller picture
it looks like the needle has been running off-center and expanding the center hole.
Can I just replace the impeller?
(why did that happen?)
Thanks,
Matt

Does Paraguard and PraziPro kill the bacteria in live rock in a QT?
ISO Stand Builder
in General Discussion
Do you have decent woodworking skills?
Are you looking for extra cash for the Holiday season?
I've given up on trying to buy the kind of stand I want, and just want to have someone build it.
Hit me up off list if you have the skills and/or time.
Thanks,
Matt
