Phil,
Do you still have any of the sea hares?
-
PM'd and texted

Bruce, I am down the street from you, I think I have weldon #4, I will look when I get home.

It's a sad day, I was made aware of this via my wife on Facebook. I understand the needs of the zoo are great, but I find it very sad that this was the solution to it.

Sadly that is the nature of "most" pseudochromis, there are a few exceptions, but the majority of them are definitely on the aggressive side if not downright evil. If I wasn't having tank issues at the moment I would say I could take him, but at the moment I am trying to resolve problems before I can add fish again.
-
Ya know... if the wife wasn't leaving on Wednesday to go back to NJ for another 3 weeks... timing is everything.
-
Another big factor is he said he is renting, I would definitely be clearing this with the landlord first. A lot of landlords would not be okay with a tank this big.

BRILLIANT... So beyond sad, it is bad enough we destroy our reefs and oceanic wildlife, now we give them an agonizing death by suffocating them. Matson's "statement" was pathetic to say the least and I hope some measure of attainable responsability is brought down on them. 233K gallons of molasses isn't exactly something you can miss happening. I have worked in a chemical plant, when pumping into a tanker you have many failsafes that ensure what you are pumping out of a tank into a tanker make it to where they are supposed to be going. Somebody wasn't doing their job and now the fish are the ones who pay for it by suffocating.

I have a large one in my tank, he's funny to watch when the fish get near him, it's like the crabs from Nemo... he gets all defensive of his space.
-
Freshwater ich will die in saltwater, I asked one of our vendors once about that as I was getting ready to set up a tank that had been stored outside and was told there is no need to sanitize the tank, just get the saltwater in it and get it cycling.

Very True, The Petco in Tyson's is *@, Same witht he one in Fairfax... But The one in Ashburn off Rt, 28, Is run by my friend who has studied and Excells in this field as well.. GreatPlace to Shop, BeCarfeulTho.... Ich Is Always present in these systems unfortunately, handpick your fish, and Make sure he eats and Looks, and swims healthy before purchasing, Other then that, As someone else said also... Could find a SweetDeal there tho'. But ALWAYS Drip and QT is never a bad idea.
Agreed, the one in Ashburn is the only one I will talk to because the manager knows what he is doing. The corporate office puts a lot of constraints on the store as far as what they can do, that is the problem with most Petco's. The managers may know what they are doing, but the corp office won't let them do what they know should be done to do things correctly.

Could be junk from the live rock, debris from the dry rock, remains of bacteria in the water, trace elements from the salt mixture, dust and stuff in the air that settled into the tank, and oranics from the salt mix. Have the lights been running? It could be micro algae.
I was going to say what was left on the rock when it dried out, but Dave said it better

Okay, so the tang police are going to yell at me, but...
When I had my 150 running I had...
1 Yellow
1 Desj Sailfin
1 Scopas
1 Purple
1 Tomini
They all swam around like best buds, I never saw an ounce of aggression towards each other.

I'm going to start calling you "Jedi Mind Trick Jenn"
But seriously, it's already happening
-wave of the hand-
This is not the new snail you thought it was
You were mistaken
The child did not see the 15 halloween hermits I bought yesterday.... crap...

I'm in, being able to understand what is going on better in the tank can NEVER be a bad thing.
-
So if I counted correctly you are looking at 19 fish, it will depend on your filtration if you will be able to have that many fish successfully.
-
I did freshwater for 20 years before switching to saltwater in 2006, when my exboss gave me his 55g salt setup because his wife got a new china cabinet and it was going where his tank was. I have found at this point that I prefer bigger tanks just for the stability. That being said, if I had the money, time and sanity I would have more tanks than I currently do just because I enjoy them.
Just ask Hilary if there is such a thing as too many tanks
-
I forgot... you'll need a screen top for the wrasse too... might as well just figure on making a screen top
-
small wrasse, not a six line though they get mean, aurora goby would be nice or possibly a yellow head or blue spot jaw (need a screen top for the jaws).
-
LOL. I guess that we have that darn dirty-word filter for people like you, Jenn!
We have no idea what the H-E-double hockey sticks you are talking about Tom
-
Could I fit two in a 14g biocube?
Not without the tang police finding you...

I went to NCPARS @ TFP a few years ago with lhcorals, it is a very crowded event, but there are lots of cool things to be found.

Fill a ziplock with sand and set it on that. Will eliminate any vibrations/sounds.
only problem there is the heat from the pump vs the ziplock bag... the bag might loose depending on how much heat the pump generates... just playing devil's advocate...

You will see some spiking, probably not a full cycle, but moving the sand will have stirred up nitrates in it. I would say keep an eye on it for a week or so before adding the more sensitive fish/corals, etc

My wife suggested taking the turtle to DR Stahl in Fairfax. He is the leading herpatology vet in the area. There may be special needs to care for the turtle
