  1. Day after I bumped the thread I took a trip over to HOT and picked up a few pieces of equipment. Had to order a lot more from online retailers but yes I have had the main display up and running about three weeks. Did a fishless cycle with One and Only and had fish in the tank at 7 days.

Due to the recent crises I stocked a lot faster than I normally would have but I needed to make sure no one was going to get a bunch of aggression so this tank is short one fish and done. Testing all day every day atm.

To keep busy decided to convert one of my 70's over to salt and a spare 40. Setting up an indoor playground to stay busy a minute. That's a new thread though.

Just been lurking here mostly, but I see a ton of names gone from not too long ago. How many members are making meetings now a days [Prior to Covid]?

  2. Sup Peoples!

Six years away and I am getting that itch again. Figured I'd check in with the club and see who is still here that may remember me.

In the planning stages of getting my 215 main in wall tank converted back over to salt. Few questions I have starting out.

Who are we liking for skimmers now a days?

    How bout sumps?

AirWaterIce who we still like for RODI?

The plan is to go FOWLR and stay away from corals this go round. I'm still a fish guy at the end of the day.

    Lurking...

  3. Yikes! I wasn't reefing then, but my neighbors were at the time. They lost a 250 gallon! Your tank looked great while it was up, fwiw!

Thanks man and I wish the old pics were still on here. That pic was from when I first made the transfer from the tank before it, and it had grown out to where it was hitting the sides and top.

Looks Great Mark!  How do the girls like it?

The little one is totally in to it "so far" but the wife, well the wife still likes to go shopping.

    :)

  4.

Small world!  LOL We originally set out to do a cichlid tank to the point we bought a non drillable 150 gallon tank and then we decided if we are going to spend the money we might as well do what we really want and go SW.  LOL We returned the 150 and bought the RedSea Max thinking that would be easier being new and joined WAMAS right away.  Within 6 months of an all in one system we knew we wanted a real system with a real sump LOL.  When the basement flooded in March why not move a wall and get our dream tank :)

Well I don't know any of the details other than what your dad told me a few weeks back, but if you guys are needing someone to get you dialed in LMK. Other than a calcium reactor, pretty sure I have just about anything you would need to finish up the project. Give me a call this evening if ya like and if you don't have my number, shoot me a PM.
  5. TBH, I was looking for some of my old pics to post in my Cichlid tank build at a different site and saw your screen name. Had no idea you guys were here, but Dave told me over the weekend you had posted some pics on FB of a new reef system in build.

  6. Finishing up my new room as we speak. Bet you didn't know I built several pieces of furniture for members here and at CMAS, as well as a few full blown fish rooms. I need to talk to the hubby as I have lighting, dosers, and even have about 125lbs of live rock that needs to go ASAP.

Are you planning to do corals, or FOWLR?

  7. Will do!  I did not realize you were a WAMAS member.  Are y'all coming to any games in the future?

Pretty sure I joined in 2005 here before I moved back from CA. May have even mentioned the group to you guys long before your Saltwater days when Pez was here [at the house] and talking about how much he wanted a tank. I see you guys are hooked now ehh? :)

Do you guys need a skimmer for that new setup? I still have  some equipment left from my old 450 gallon system, and lighting as well. LMK

As far as games, I am doing one home game so far and flying to a couple away.

Hello to everyone else out here as well. I do miss you guys, but the saltwater,,,, Not so much.

    :)

  8. Does teh blue spot puffer take pellets or frozen? Any trouble with corals/clams/shrimp/etc?

I have had this one a little under a year and have him eating everything I put in the tank. Will eat frozen, pellets, and flake.

I do not have any shrimp or clams in the tank he is in, so I can not say one way or the other, but have not seen him mess with any snails.

  9. BTW the live rock is being picked up this Thursday 6/14 so I would like all livestock picked up this week Friday through Sunday. I will be out of town for a couple of weeks after that and will list the equipment on my return.

Please list what you would like in the thread, however everything will be on a first come first serve basis.

If you would like to call I can be reached at 703 - two zero three- three zero two seven.

  10. I am located less than 1 mile from the Charlestown races and slots.

    Here is the fish list:

    Large Raccoon Butterfly 5" $30.00

    Squirrelfish, Striped (Fiji) 5" $40.00

    Purple Tang 3" $120.00

    Mexican Hogfish 5" $40.00

    Blue Spotted Puffer 2" 25.00

I'll also throw in a free Clarkii clown, and a free Maldives Lyretail Anthias, Female to the first person that comes by and gets a fish off the list.

  11. So after 6 years in the salt water hobby, I have decided I miss the Cichlids way more than I like the hobby, so I have decided to get out.

I will list items as they become available, and am going to part this out. I will be keeping the tank, but everything salt water related will go.

    First up:

Figi Live rock @ $2.00 a pound. I have about 200 or so pounds all purchased at Dr Mac's, and is 100% pest free outside of some bristle worms.

As soon as that is gone or close enough to being gone so that I can get to the fish I will list those.

I will also be getting rid of my Deltec AP 702, so if you have any interest in that hit me, however I won't let that go until all livestock is gone. Looking for $1000.00 or best offer.

    Thanks for looking,

    Mark

  12. Thanks guys. The tank is doing very well despite the fact that I have taken up adding fish that are supposed to be not reef safe. Been focusing a little on the original 100 that was moved to the back fish room that replaced the frag tank that I had. I decided that I still like the fish a whole lot more than corals and whatnot so I decided a coupe months back to get some of the more colorful fish, and am working on collecting some of those.

Hoping to place an order this evening in fact if I can find some of the things on my list.

I'll try and get some pics up soon to show just how far this system has come.
