  1. Where can I get my CO2 Tank refilled?  I have been getting it refilled at Bars by Bud in Fairfax, but it is a hike from both work and home.  Anything in Woodbridge or Herndon areas?

    Thanks

    Brad

  2. How do I add pictures from my gallery to a thread? There was a button for adding pictures from my gallery. You click it and it popped up a window. All you had to do was click the picture you wanted and the URL was added to the thread. When the forum was upgraded that button went away. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Brad

  3. I would recommend pointing a power head directly at the RBTA. After sometime (usually a few hours) it will start moving. You can tell it is on the move when the base is all puffed up with water. At that point it is very easy to peel off the rock.

  4. This first part defines the names you give to each outlet on your DC8

    LT1$-A4

    LT2$-A2

    LT3$-A3

This part turns the lights on and off based on the time on the ACIII

    If Time > 14:00 Then LT3 ON

    If Time > 23:59 Then LT3 OFF

    If Time > 13:00 Then LT2 ON

    If Time > 23:00 Then LT2 OFF

    If Time > 15:00 Then LT1 ON

    If Time > 21:59 Then LT1 OFF

  5. Actually I replaced all the tubing last month so I could get black instead of clear. I am fairly good at cleaning everything on the tank.

No one else has any advice? 50 views and one helper...

Where did you find the replacement black tubing? I have not been able to find black tubing to replace the clear 3/8 OD feed line.

    Thanks

    Brad

  6. I had the same problem with mine after a few years. I determined that the inside of the black tube that runs from the reactor back to the tank had build on the inside. My feed tube was also full of build up. The build up would cause the drip to stop. Once the drip stopped and the CO2 cut on it would build up in the reator and cause bubbles. I would suggest cleaning or replacing all of your tubing.

Also, I never reuse media when I clean it out. I dump the left over and start with fresh.

  7. I believe the Blue Ribbon Koi phone number is 703-753-7566.

I have also ordered from www.reefgeek.com.

www.bulkreefsupply.com also sells bulbs and if you get in on a group buy you can save a few bucks.

  8. I did it once. Got my results via email. Had a small problem with the email blocking their email. I would recommend trying it. I might get it done again.

A few months ago I stumble upon this website http://www.aquariumwatertesting.com

They offer lab quality tests for aquarium water. It seems pricey but you definitely get accurate results, and they test for 14 parameters.

With the price of some of the better test kits it might even be a good deal.

I was wondering if anyone has tried their service.

I was thinking about doing the $109.99 Reference Kit "You get 4 Sample Submission Packs each of which can be submitted at any time to receive our 14 parameter analysis."

That will give me a complete test every 3 months for a year and will also allow me to compare their results to my test kits to measure accuracy.

    Any thoughts?

  9. Thanks Brian. Is it the Nepture Systems Lab Grade Probe? The answer I got on Reef Central was

"Yep, all you will see is a platium wire, no covering on it. Its OK."

    Thanks

    Brad

Mine has the little glass bulb. Just like the pH probe.
  10. What should the tip of the Neptune Systems Lab Grade ORP Probe look like? I was expecting it to look like the pH Probe with a little glass bulb at the end. However it has a little silver wire. I just want to make sure it isn't broken.

    Thanks

  11. The first baby I found alive would only eat live baby brine. It was born back on 10/23/2007. However with the second baby I found alive, it would eat the Ocean Nutrition Instant Baby Brine Shrimp.

OK, link is not working. Go to Marine Depot and search for Ocean Nutrition Instant Baby Brine Shrimp.

    Baby Brine

It was much easier than hatching my own. It was born on 05/31/08. Both now eat all types of frozen food and are living in my refugium.

    Good Luck.

    Thanks

  12. Jon

Thanks for the help. I have tried RO/DI and it is 1.000 ( 0 ppt). I have also tested the calibration fluid about 25 times and my tank water about 25. And I have cleaned the prism glass and plastic cover between each. When I adjust the refractometer for the calibration fluid to read 1.026 (approx. 35 ppt), my tank water is testing at 1.031. That seems extremely high to me. However, everything in my tank seems happy. The fish are swimming around and eating. Coral all have their polyps out. RBTA looks happy. That is why I am wondering if the calibration fluid is off. I would think that 1.031 would have an adverse affect on my inhabitants.

tbittner, I have also tried floating the calibration fluid in the tank. The reading was slightly different than before I floated it. But still doesn't explain the differences.

    Thanks

    Brad

    Brad,

I'm assuming you've tried multiple times and keep getting the same results? Have you doublechecked with a second benchmark, like RO/DI water with a salinity of 0 ppt?

I've gotten incorrect readings with my refractometer through poor lab practices like not cleaning the equipment properly after a reading. This resulted in remnants from the first sample skewing the result of the second. Make sure you clean the prism glass and both sides of the plastic coverplate. If you wait a long time while taking a reading, the water may begin to evaporate from under the coverplate causing salinity to rise.

    Jon
