  1. I have a 40 gallon setup I'd be willing to donate to a school if there's one that could use it. Includes:

    tank (pre-drilled with overflow)

    oak stand and hood

    2 x 96 PC lights (coralife)

    sump with built in skimmer

whatever materials you'd like to go with it...chemicals, pumps, etc.

Would prefer to donate rather than sell, but I've got to get rid of it ASAP so it's gotta be one or the other soon. Send me PM or txt/call my cell: 703-200-8313

    Pete

  2. Well the amount of light is definitely different... will it be sufficient... I think so (except for maybe the anemone... he/she will want more light).

Thanks Dave. May go ahead and just replace it to be safe.

  3. I have two 96W Power Compact bulbs over a 40 breeder with softies and one BTA. I had a 10K and a 50/50 in there and when I went to replace them I accidentally orders a 10K and an 05 Actinic. Question is, how much of a different will it make to my anemone/zoas/leathers to have an Actinic in there vs. a 50/50?

Should I buy another 50/50 to replace the actinic, or is the amount and quality of light they're getting still about the same?

  4. My wife swore ours had died when I was away for a week, I came back, looked in the tank, and he was peeking his head out of a hole in some rock he had taken for a home and was just hanging out in there.

  5. shawns, sent you a PM.

BTW, how is everyone planning on meeting up for this? I only know a handful of folks in WAMAS, and none are the ones I'm trying to get frags from. Getting cell phone numbers to call and connect, or just ask around and find the person you're looking for? Never been able to go to a mtg so not sure how this works.

Maybe I'll just keep asking Howard, "who's this person?"

  6. Have Green Zoas and Orange Zoas to trade. Couple of frags with a few polyps each for the orange ones, and one big one each with 30+ polyps of both the orange and the greens, which I can do whole or (with help) frag into smaller pieces.

Looking for a lot of little stuff in trade to help populate my 12 gal nano and 40 gallon breeder. All softies...leathers, mushrooms, different colored zoas, polyps, whatever.

  7. BTW traveller, I did get a number of pistols with my TBS live rock, which is apparently pretty common. I also got a few mantis in there as well. Apparently I didn't get them all out as I still have clicking in my tank. Since it's at night, I'm assuming it's another pistol I didn't get.

  8. Hello All you wamasers,

I am fairly new to the hobby and am ready to begin with corals.  My tank seems to be extremely stable at this point and all of my rock, sand, and livestock are doing GREAT!  I am looking for a new coral that is fairly easy to keep (not too much dosing or anything like that involved) and could possibly act as a surrogate anemone for my clowns.  I figured that a hairy mushroom would be a good starter....any other ideas?  Also, maybe some kind of xenia or some zoas.  If anyone has any tips, let me know...also, I would love to get some frags to try and start out...if anyone has any that they are willing to part with, let me know...we might be able to do some business!

I just did a big purge of Xenia this weekend. I have a little more to trim back that I'd be happy to give you. I'm sure you can find others that will do the same.

I also recommend zoos and star polyps as they're fairly easy to keep and will spread nicely. Don't have any frags of either I can offer, but keep an eye out. Somebody's always looking to get rid of something.

  9. Glad to hear Nemo is ok. How did you go about vacuuming out your sump? I've wanted to do it but never have the time/patience to do it by using a baster, which is the only way I figure I can do it since it sits on the floor and is too low to drain into something else.

  10. I need more than a little bit of LR rubble for several (3) different refugiums I'm setting up. Does anyone know where I might look locally to get a fair amount of it? Any LFS that might have it? I really didn't want to have to order through the mail and pay shipping.

I figure I ought to be able to snag some sand from one of the several tanks being broken down/sold lately.

Thanks for any suggestions (and sorry for the thread hijack!).
