Viktoriia June 27, 2019 Share June 27, 2019 I wanted to gather suggestions on setting up a Frag Tank. My initial thought is to tie the tank to the sump from my main display. Since i have a great sump set up adding a return seems like the easiest solution. As for Fish or clean up crew for the Frag tank what should i add. I plan on going bare bottom on the Frag tank. Javed Aman June 28, 2019 Share June 28, 2019 A shared sump can be a good idea, but I'd make sure that in case of power outages the extra water volume draining back from the frag tank would be supported by the sump. How big is the frag tank? The usual assortment of snails is fine in general. If it's large enough, maybe a tang to pick off algae.
cpeguero June 28, 2019 Share June 28, 2019 I’m planning a large setup and will likely include a frag tank too. The only issue I see with adding it to your system is if something wipes out your DT, you lose the frag tank too. BtmDweller July 18, 2019 Share July 18, 2019 The separation of a system is definitely a benefit. However, personally chose to plumb a frag system to the main so I only need to test/dose a single system, easy of plumbing for my system, added stability increasing the water volume. I use astrea and a couple Mexican turbo snails. I had a tang in the frag tank when I had more algae, but you need to supplement nutrition with dried algae to prevent problems over time.
