Everything has settled down. I was only able to save 3 of the fish in my big tank. It is sitting fallow until March. The corals are picking up some colors again after the medication incident. I lost quite a few acro. Definitely the biggest hit for me in this hobby so far. Believe it or not, right after my tank issue, I lost one of my Hydra and half my T5 fixture right after. Not liking 2019 so far, so I decided to go with the Lunar calendar and start my new year in February. Hoping for the best. 91e22b42af19fd9d8b1d8f3cd75a85c7.jpg3eb866859cce0e6421be2afe663d6cde.jpg558d5cc879971cca3d4d23a2b9dae23d.jpg5450f993bbb5adb0152dc3a02edf9861.jpga516e02752bb7030a15ed262669ced9d.jpg89022a79d58b51fc53a6625575755883.jpg

My little Red Sea 170 is doing very well. I have been collecting a lot of euphyllias lately. I finally got the chaeto growing after dosing the iron supplements that Alan recommended (thank you!). My algae issue is almost gone and nitrate is a lot lower.

My softies tank was a headache! The Orbit Marine lights were too low when I tried using only blues with very little red/green/white.  As recommended, I ramped up the other colors during the day and ended up with major dino. After a couple days of lights out and bringing the lights back down, everything got back to normal. I considered adding some cheaper black boxes but got a great deal on a T5 fixture. Ended up rigging it and hang it on the wall with some plant hangers. Everything seems a lot better. Zoas and Anemones are doing great! Thank you everyone for your help.

That Red Sea tank is 100%! Loving the little gems, like that @$%#&in’ RFA and the lobo (or is it a scolly?) also, the euphillia is beautiful, I will grow it again when I have a larger tank. Is it just the recording though, or is it very loud?

Thank you!

I'm not sure what is going with that RFA. Do they get that big?!?! Will she (I found out it's a she) get bigger??!?!?! She's about the size of my hand. I don't even feed them.

I am in a euphyllia frenzy right now. SPS grows too slow so I focus more on the LPS and zoas. I love their movement. You should get a bigger tank.

Yeah, they get that big. I have a nice one as well that settled front and center, so I let it be. Feeding nems is never a requirement, just a perk!

I sold all my euphillia bc it grew to fast, I’ll get a larger tank when I move!

It has been a while! Lots have changed with the tank.

I had a mini crash recently and lost a few colonies. Weird occurrence, only bigger corals especially fully encrusted ones were affected.

I added two additional frag tanks to handle my hoarding habits. My buddy was able to drop by and help me plumb the tanks together so that I only need to handle two separate system instead of 4. I am running out of space again though :facepalm1:

Tanks looking awesome!

To me, corals are very unpredictable. They can't go anytime and in any water parameters condition. I loss one or two colonies every now and then for no apparent reason. I learned and accepted that it's a part of this hobby.

Thank you!

One or two I'm not too worried, but I lost the majority of my bigger corals. Frags were unaffected. It was super weird. I also had a big spike in phosphate (2.7). I attributed that to dosing failure (~1000mL of acropower). I think with all the stress it added to the issue. Lesson learned.

Some upgrades I made after "stimulating" the economy. Let's just say I stole my husband's too.

Original light that came with the S500 was 3 Hydra 26s. I went with 2 Radion XR30 Blue and T5 hybrid fixture. 4 x Blue+.

Frag tank also got an upgrade with 3 Radion XR15 Blue and T5 hybrid. 3 x Blue+, 1 x Coral+.

Softies had a hydra 26. I put an XR15 Blue on there also. Not sure if it is enough lighting since I added a nice Maxima clam in there. I'm thinking about adding a couple of of reefbright strips. Not sure if that's needed.

Small mushroom/zoas overflow tank currently has two Redsea ReefLed 90. Personally, I'm not a fan of that light. I would say it is comparable to the Kessil. If I had a choice, I would not buy this light again. I really do like the Hydras and Radions!

I was also fed up with the skimmer that came with the Red Sea tank. I finally upgraded it to their RSK 600. Seems to be running like a champ.

How much water volume do you have total?

The S500 + frag tank ~ 200 gallons.
The E170 + overflow ~ 75 gallons.

Looks like you have more coral than water in most of them!

Good idea on plumbing as much together as possible. The moment I start handling more than one tank it starts to feel like a chore and less of a hobby.

Recently I went through a blastomussa obsession and a couple of WAMAS member indulged me in my coral addiction. These beauties are stolen/borrow from @NamReefs and @Llemonz. Yes, I know.... Bryce, the stick guy actually have some LPS! For Nam, that dude just has everything .

Had to move things around in the tank. I found out that torches can sting the mantle of the clam. Poor guy is healing and opening wide again.

I found this very cool coral (Bernardopora) that we don't see much around. The fact that it gets wrongly classified contributes to the "rarity". I initially got this from Unique Coral. After a couple of months, it has blossomed into a beautiful rich red color. A friend suggested trying to grow them between acros. That is a great idea but I am not sure how aggressive this guy is. Anyone has experience with this?
