Weird bubbles growing on my acan

Looks like bubble algae. You can remove it manually but be careful not to pop the bubbles. I believe emerald crabs will eat it as well.

Definitely bubble algae.  I would pop the frag off and throw away the old plug.  Then pick off every last bit of valonia before regluing.

You need a biological control to keep it from returning.  Emerald/mithrax crabs will eat it, but slowly.  Rabbitfish will likely eat bubble algae.  I had a Desjardini tang that loved it.

Everyone says "don't pop them"...

How do you think the rabbitfish or emerald crabs eat it?

A common algae found on drag plugs.

As started previously, pop the coral off the plug and discard the rest.
