thakki March 17, 2017 Share March 17, 2017 Is there a way to avoid head on collision between Sps's next to each other as they grow? I shud have planned to have enough space between them...but didn't realise that the branches would grow that direction. I don't want to move the colonies as they both have encrusted pretty well. The only option is to frag that branch...hate doing that as I want to see it grow bigger...any other suggestions? What happens if I leave it as is...will I loose one of the them? donnievaz March 17, 2017 Share March 17, 2017 This is a wild guess but maybe changing the flow pattern could redirect growth?
AlanM March 17, 2017 Share March 17, 2017 You might be able to encourage the one on the left to start branching out to the sides by doing a little bit of damage to the corallites on the two sides. Once you see small branches you could snip the top and try to keep it from growing back towards the green one on the right.

sethsolomon March 17, 2017 Share March 17, 2017 I would cut the branch and glue it on the other side of the colony and help build a bigger base.

zygote2k March 20, 2017 Share March 20, 2017 as Alan mentioned, if you damage the tip of the branch with a scalpel or file, itll most likely form a "Y" and grow away from the other coral.
