Can I use Lily pipes with a sump pump?

Hello,

I am a beginner and I just purchased an Aquamaxx 22 gallon long tank.  I would like to install a glass-holes overflow box on the left-hand side and a Lily pipe for the right side.  I am adding a sump tank below.

I can't find any examples of a Lily pipe attached to flexible tubing and a sump pump (only canisters). I also considered the MAME overflow but it looks complicated.  Does anyone make larger glass J pipes that would work with a sump pump?

I would really appreciate your ideas and feedback.

Thank you.

There's no reason it wouldn't work if you're lily pipe supported the GPH flow you were looking for. I'm assuming you're looking at glass lily pipes? Long term your biggest issue is going to be coralline algae growing in the inside it.  Otherwise you can use something like this:

Good Luck

Is there a specific reason you want to use glass?  I am with 20Logr clear piping in a reef will just get algaed up with coraline and other algaes.

I would either drill the hole for the return line or do the return jet like 20logr posted.

Hello Sethsolomon and 20LogR,

Thank you for responding to my question.  I would like to be able to move the return line around the edge of the aquarium since I may change its orientation.  I actually considered buying spare parts of a MAME overflow for the glass elbow.  Unfortunately, the owner of Saltwater Conversion is not taking orders (due to health issues).

I may try the CPR return for now.

Thanks again for the reply.

If your going with the clear tube, you might as well go with the glass. As clear plastic is worst on growing stuff in the tubes.
