DBL September 2, 2016 Share September 2, 2016 You should be ok using the same sand just give it a quick rinse in old tank water and transfer it, that's what I did when I upgraded from a 60 to a 120. I didn't have any problems. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
CarrieB September 2, 2016 Share September 2, 2016 Some people recommend replacing sand because it tends to acquire a lot of detritus over time and stirring it up and then putting it in a new tank can cause problems.
