Anemone June 2, 2016 Share June 2, 2016 My RO reservoir sits on the basement floor and I'd like to run an overflow to the floor drain (for in case the shut off fails). The floor drain is ancient, embedded in the 60 year old concrete floor. Is there a recommended way to make this connection? The drain cover can not be removed (at least, not without breaking it out of the floor).
Origami June 2, 2016 Share June 2, 2016 If you can run a PVC pipe across the floor, you can put an elbow at the end to direct any overflow downward into the drain. Just secure the pipe to the floor with concrete screws (tapcons) and those galvanized pipe clamps. This is how a contractor routed a hot water heater discharge vent over to the drain in my old Ashburn home years ago. It's a surface installation, though, so you probably want the pipe to track out of the way of any foot traffic.
