Pretty cool man, jack of all trades I see. I looked into making some ceramic frag plugs back in the day, the community center by my house has a kiln and open workshops. Best laid plans....

This is a cool build!

What MH light is that?

Also, do you have anything inside the ceramics similar to the way rebar works for concrete? I don't really know it's necessary, but I remember talking to a vendor at MACNA who made similar structures and he had some trial and error to figure out what spans he could make that wouldn't ultimately crack/break. Your design and artistry is really impressive

The metal halide is a LumenMax Elite reflector, with a Lumentek 250-400 Super lumen ballast and 14k phoenix DE bulbs

That's incredible!

And where's this place in Manassas?

The place is Menassus Clay

Did you poke holes in it to make it porous? Interested to see results vs. rock

yes thats one thing but ceramic is very porous when low heat fired.  the holes are more so it does not explode when fired. So I will be firing this at cone 4.

Some goals for the next 1-2 months for this tank:

  • Find a Choati Leopard wrasse
  • Find a Lapillis Leopard wrasse
  • get 2x 5"-7" clams  (Teardrop maximas or Squamosas)
  • design a way to add 2x t5's to this setup to add 2x ATI blue + bulbs
  • modify my Nac 5.5 to an Atman 4000 skimmer pump
