Cleaning salt creep

Anyone have a good solution to cleaning old, thick salt creep? Refurbishing a stand and have some serious clean up to do. Taking any and all recommendations.

I used a sander but I was also was repainting the whole thing.

That's what I'm thinking cause I don't relish the idea of saturating he wood w water and I will be sanding out the inside anyway and restaining.

Just make sure you sand it well. If you dont, the paint will more than likely peel. I'm seeing peeling with mine, but I dont know if it's just because water got behind the paint.
