Hey Everyone... Thought I would do a small update. Spent the last couple of days finishing up trim and bar work. Also painted the back of the tank. Which is/was a complete pain since it was on the bar already... Took my time with some cold ones and did multiple coats. Over all happy with everything except the top edge of the paint and tank.. Looks like it will need a few more trim / patience brush strokes...

I have Rob coming over on Saturday to do PVC work. He came out on Sunday and we talked through ideas on how to best get it done.

Now a week of looking at paint dry.. :)

FYI the door on the right is where all the electronics will go..

So I drilled holes in the walls of the baffles to lower the level of the water. After a test with the pump, I will have to put some back pressure on the pump to slow the flow a bit, and I put more holes in it...

I think/hope it will be good to go.

See below....

So a bit of free time tonight so we unpacked 200lbs of Dry Rock from BRS. Thinking I might need more for an eight foot tank..

Laid it out on a table for the time being. Wont put it in the tank till the weekend, after the PVC is done...

Take a look...

I don't think you will need too much more rock. That is an 8' table -right? Leave more open space for the corals and fish. Think about down the road when the corals are 1' x1' x1'. Try to give yourself at leave 6" off the glass on at least 3 sides so you can still clean the glass when things grow out.

That must have been painful drilling those holes in the new sump  But it was the right think to do.

Solid advice. I like less rock, let the coral speak for itself, but I guess it's opinion!

I would also play with the height of the rock, not keep it so uniform. IMO

Yes I was thinking the same thing with the spacing.. The table is a 6footer.. I definitely want little caves and passages.

Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for recommending rob on your post.

Happy Saturday Everyone.

Shout out to Rob (zygote2k ) for his PVC craftsmanship and expertize . Spent the last few hours PVC'ing the tank.. One step closer to getting the cycle going.

UPDATE ----

Here we go!!!!

Hooked up the RODI system today. Thanks Eric for your assistance. Had a tiny air leak that was causing me to think that there wasn't enough pressure from the main. After going over the lines I found the tiny whistle... Pressure shot up to 70.

Put Sand and Rocks in the tank and tightened the pipes..

Cleaned up and now enjoying a cold one at BAR RICHIE :)

Notice the red glow of LEDs around the bottom of the bar..:)
