nah youre doing just fine. The base of your problem is most likely your source water.  I dont see anything else that could be it from what you have told us. Did you start the tank with dry rock or live rock?

Okay cool its just a lot of stuff im trying to learn right now.  With the rock I had bought it from someone but i freshwater dipped them because they had a lot of pests inside of them so it pretty much killed all the good and bad stuff on them.

So you bought live rock and dipped it or soaked it for a long time? How long is this tank up and running btw?

Where are you located?

I soaked it for a long time in fresh water.  The tank has been up for a good 6 months now. I'm located in Woodbridge Va. And the test kit I've been using is the API reef master test kit.

Approach this logically:

1) Buy a Salifert or other high-accuracy Calcium test kit.

If results are higher than normal, check source water.

If source water is within normal range, stop using RC

    and switch to regular IO.

2) If above methodology fails to pinpoint high calcium,

and occupants are fine, don't worry about it anymore.
