YHSublime May 2, 2013 Share May 2, 2013 Anybody want to take a look at my layout and shoot opinions. Hint: I copied reefbreeders to a T, will modify if needed after I test it. 90 degree optics, will be about 1" off from the rim of my tank.
DaveS May 2, 2013 Author Share May 2, 2013 Following up to a question I posed previously on this thread, now that I have my fixtures. I ended up going with the 60 degree optics. It worked out nicely. The fixture is about 18" above the water and the tank is 30" deep. I don't get too much light spill. I get considerably less light spill than the Lumenbright mini pendant that was replaced (I started out with 3 pendants on my 6' tank). I think I even get less light spill with these 60 degrees than I get on my DIY with narrower 45 degree optics. I think this is because the fixture is much smaller. My DIY has LEDs all across a 10"x22" heatsink where the D120 is only about 12"x8". Light penetration to the sand seems reasonable too. So, bottom line, I'm happy with the 60 degree optics.
