Annap729 May 12, 2012 Share May 12, 2012 I might be missing something, but i gave my idol a freshwater dip when i saw he had some white spots on his black body. When I pulled him, i noticed the spots weren't cystic as much as they appeared to be more like a loss of color. He's in QT now, but i am hoping to identify what the issue is here. davelin315 May 13, 2012 Share May 13, 2012 Loss of color can be indicative of many things... need more info to help diagnose. FYI, mine lost color in patches when it got ill and it turned out to be velvet I believe. Definitely not an expert in fish disease or Moorish Idols, but seemed like mine had subcutaneous parasites that caused the discoloration and they popped out later on. Just a wild guess as I didn't really have much of an opportunity to trouble shoot since everything ended up dead!
Annap729 May 14, 2012 Author Share May 14, 2012 Funny, the whitespots came on those color-lost areas a couple days later. must have been what you described. He was in rough shape last night and I gave him another dip; his breathing is not as hard, the white spots everywhere are now minimal, did a QT water change to lessen the parasitic load, and am about to hookup the UV sterilizer to circulate. Classic case of getting it under control, so thanks to all. I'll upload some pics of it shortly.very hard to see of course, but i'll give it a shot.
