  1. Anybody have an Aquamaxx Prism? I've had this light for more than 2 years and it is great! But I just moved...again... and this time it won't turn on. The controller works fine but I can't get the lights on. Does anybody have this light that wouldn't mind letting me test to see if it is my light or my controller. Any electricity savvy people out there know the best way to test power on a 3 pin water proof connector or where to test power on the actual light strip? Thanks!
  2. I wanted to have an insert that would slide into the first chamber of my Fluval EVO 13 that would house different types of filter media. I wanted the water to run into it and pass through filter floss and then carbon. The way the chamber is designed, water doesn't have to hit the bottom to flow to the next chamber so I wanted the design to block water flow at the top forcing it to travel down through the media. I also have previously worked with Stratos from https://printed3d.parts/ for equipment for my other tank and so I had him print me a custom insert for the filter housing. This leaves the second housing section open so I can now add in cheato and a fuge light. Highly recommend hitting Stratos up if you have anything you need custom designed/printed for your tank. Super reasonable and fast! Just wanted to share in case anyone needed ideas for their Fluval.
  3. Fish Update! So I got two clowns over Christmas. Also recently got a pink spotted watchman goby, such a cool fish and such a big eater, does great being tong fed (don't have a picture of her yet) Overtime I have added a condy nem, a feather duster, and finally (and most excitedly) a neon pink tube nem! I also have previously worked with Stratos from https://printed3d.parts/ for equipment for my other tank and so I had him print me a custom insert for the filter housing. This way I can now have a section for filter floss, one for carbon, and then I designed it so that it would redirect the waterflow forcing it to move through the filtration instead of just running across. This leaves the second housing section open so I can now add in cheato and a fuge light. Highly recommend hitting Stratos up if you have anything you need custom designed/printed for your tank. 4. Down to help. Stupid question though. I frequent the zoo, my best friend works there, I’ve been to Amazonia a bunch bc fish. But um...never seen the coral lab. Am I blind as a bat?? How do I get to it?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thanks! Me too!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. So far so good! Took a minute to get the skimmer going but everything is up and running and cycling. Have inverts in now which are doing swell. I’ve never heard that LEDs are bad for nems. In the 8 tanks I’ve had or managed they’ve all had LED’s and kept nems with no problem. They just have to be good LED’s obviously. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Shameless plug: Moved to Virginia a few months back and had been wanting to make a big coral order. Couldn’t decide who to purchase from but at the end of the day decided to just support a bit of home. Placed the biggest order ever from 4 Ankers Corals and of course I have zero regrets. 1. He worked with me from a distance to figure what he had and what I wanted. 2. Comparable or even better pricing. 3. Order was shipped ASAP. 4. When UPS failed to deliver on time cause they’re not smart, he took care of it right away while I was in back to back surgeries. Nothing to worry about. 5. Everything came leak proof packaged. 6. Everyone was alive! 7. HOLY H-E-double hockey sticks FREEBIES! Got way more polyps than I paid for and so many extra frags! If you want to be taken care of, Tony is the man. And I can say that from 700 miles away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks everyone! I got the caribsea black sand. As far as nems no specific ones in mind yet just variety! Oh but definitely a tube nem. That’s why my sand bed is so deep. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I’ve been toying with the idea of a nem only tank for a while now. Mostly because I love nems but don’t like the stingy effect on my zoas. So today, it has begun! I got a Fluval Evo 13.5 with skimmer today! I bought a gooseneck clamp lamp and an ABI 23w Tuna Blue Coral Reef Optimized PAR38 bulb. That idea came from another forum and from the Maritza vase tank (if you haven’t seen that look it up). Have also wanted a black sand tank forever so I caved this time! Hoping it’ll make the nem colors pop! Set it all up today. Now it’s time to sit back and excruciatingly wait for it to cycle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. THATS THE ONE!!! Anybody have this?? Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Because I can’t find it anymore! It was one of those remember this name bc that’s cool. Welp can’t remember anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. This is not going to be at all useful. Looking for the name of a coral posted in the trade forums I think. It’s an SPS, yellow/orange looks like a pile of kraft Mac n cheese. Pretty sure it incrusta a bit but also has weird branches that makes it look (to me) like a pile of Mac n cheese lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. So I have many ways and it all depends on the stubbornness of the shroom haha. I made a basket that I hang from my tank using window screen mesh. I hang it with my glass cleaner magnet and some fishing bobbers. I put broken shell bits from the tank in there and let things attach. Usually it’s enough that you can put glue on the rubble and glue that to a plug or a rock. Favorite sneaky technique is to get a curved shell or a snail shell and put some glue at the very bottom and tuck the shroom in there. It’ll be cradled on either side and not want to leave while the glue is working it’s magic. Sometimes a combo of that works. Sometimes you need panty hose Sometimes you just need a hole in your rock that you can put glue down and send it down and not see it for a few days til it attaches and gets back to normal size and comes out the top. Also, stupid as it sounds gluing shrooms and putting them in an absolutely no flow area really helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Not always successful but usually pretty possible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. How well does it work for sticking something not attached to a rock or substrate? Like sticking straight zoas or shrooms that are soft and squishy? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I’ve heard really good things about this one and was considering buying it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Are you talking about the putty? Like JB Weld? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. What glue does everyone use? I’ve always used locktite gel but I think they changed their product. Sick and tired of having to regule everyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Looks like a spaghetti worm that has left the sand to me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
