  2. I tested Alk 11.2 and calc 420 after posting. I keep thinking why is one fine but the other closed.
  3. I had a nickel sized bunch of GSP and it fell behind some rocks where I can't grab it but can still partially see it. So I bought another. 2nd one closed up after a few weeks in the tank. While the original opens daily. I tested the water and everything is the same except maybe around day 1 of the closure the salt hit 1.026. I did move a powerhead reducing the flow it receives around that time too. Everything else coral, fish, inverts - no problems Questions: Does it prefer higher light, lower light, does it matter? Does it prefer massive flow, decent flow, low flow, does it matter? How long should I wait before writing it off as dead? I know a lot of people will say - you are lucky it died before it takes over... but I really love the look so it taking over I see as a good thing Thanks in advance newbie
  4. Any recommendations... Need to grab and place things - need a nice set of tongs, I need something to spot feed fish (goby who is always hiding it a tight spot, anenome who moves)
  5. WOW! great responses - appreciate the time taken. I want a controller to monitor temperature but it has to be plug and play or run on Mac/iOS. researching Changed my amazon to smile.amazon. Buy a lot so should ring up some $ for wamas.org Really I should be worrying about the bigger problem of a blocked overflow ($15K damage v. $35) - working on that starting tomorrow
  6. I am a newbie - forgive the ignorance. Anyway, I want to protect my return pump in sump from burning out in the event my overflow to the sump stops. I am looking for a recommendation/link to something low cost (return pump was only $35). If any wiring is required probably it's not for me. Thanks in advance. Patrick
  7. It is alive. thanks for the help. I was worried it would pollute the tank if it was dead
  8. Saw this in a tank on youtube. Any ideas?
  9. I think my original post was unclear. The photo I posted is of the problematic feather duster. The crown is out but it will not retract at the touch. Does this mean it is dead? do they die and leave the crown out?
  10. Gonna need a tie breaker... Thanks for the replies
  11. Bought two feather dusters - one is going great. the other is out but seems to have lost some "feathers" and does not retract to the touch. thoughts? feeding them from the bottle in the photo
