I had some algae bloom on my fish only that is under control now. Nothing really new to fish only other than I added goldflake angelfish and made some changes to wrasse collection.

After 4 years, my bandit angels start fighting. So I started a reef tank to move one of my bandit angel out. This tank is only few weeks old and is about 80-90g (48x24x18). I currently have some euphyllias, bandit angel, Oreni tilefish, and two diamondtail flasher wrasses.

I think it will work. I would probably add leopard first.

It can be for few reasons 1. It’s not tight enough. 2. Gasket did not sit correctly 3. Faulty bulkhead

Hey! Based on my experience, fish tend to prefer swimming space rather than hiding places. Therefore, I try to keep my aquascape as open as possible. However, that doesn't mean hiding places are not important. I achieve this by carefully selecting the types of fish I keep. I primarily have two species: angelfish and wrasse (I also have a Moorish idol, but it behaves similarly to an angelfish and has similar care requirements). My angelfish tends to sleep in the rock structures, so I've used Tonga rock to create plenty of inner spaces for them. Most of my wrasses, particularly leopard wrasse, prefer to hide or sleep in the sand. I also have a few fairy/flasher wrasses that utilize 1-inch PVC pipes as hidden spots (Pipes are hidden behind the overflow box) and they hide and sleep in those pipes. Please let me know if anyone have any questions. I am happy to share my experience, my setup, and anything about fish!

Yes I have one tiger angel in there Haha yes I always need more. They have been together since Juv, so they get along although they don't love each other.

Documenting my progress for 3/26/2023. I loss my flame and diamontail wrasse some time ago. And rehomed few other wrasses. Common leopard wrasse that I have for 7 years turned male out of nowhere. No major changes to my angel collection.

What about Innovative marine? I saw them running few sales.

I QT everything regardless of the source. I usually run them through cupramine and prazi. My display tank is heavily stocked. So I have to be very careful with new livestocks that I am adding. I take my time when it comes to quarantine. I currently have 2 regals and moorish idol in two separate QT tank. I got regal angel on 5/11/2022 and moorish idol on 4/10/2022. They won’t be ready for another 4 weeks.

Update: 12/19/2021 I loss one of the Helfrichi firefish from jumping during water change. I added two new residents: Tiger Angelfish and Radiant Wrasse. Everyone is doing well! I want to start adding some low mainteance corals that are reletively "Angel Safe". I also need to consider that it must look good on my branch rock scape and looking for recommendations. I am considering Euphyllias and Mushrooms, but open to any suggestions!

Thanks! I will be adding some asy corals such as Euphyllia and softies. I love how low mainteance this tank is! I got them directly from Hawaill few years back from this diver I know. They were about 3 inches when I got them. Now they are about 5~5.5 inches. They are great fish. They don't bother anyone including any new fish that I add. And they have great personality.

Hey! Nothing special. I think picking out a healthy specimen is very important. Then the fish gets isolated in the QT. Once fish feels comfortable, I feed heavily throughout the day until it shows interest in the food. At first, I do frequent water changes to keep the water crystal clean.

Hello! I joined the club about 4 years ago, but never had a chance to share my aquarium. I started my first saltwater aquarium in 2003 and had ups and downs. Now I like to keep things simple and prefer a set up where I can keep things with a minimum maintenance. With work and life, I am taking it slow. I do QT everything wet, so will take some time to add corals. In terms of fish, I don't keep them if I can't train them to eat dry food (mainly pellets). Therefore, my main focus is angels and wrasses. I have 19 fishes total. This allows me to travel good amount of time so I can feed my fish using auto-feeder. I wish I can share a high quality video. But with IPhone 7 and Youtube, it is not easy to get a high quality video .

They also wanted $8 for a trochus snail. I am willing to pay little more to shop at LFS. But not double the price.

I tried to pair up helfrichi firefish on 5 different times. It never worked for me. The best I got was they were together for 1.5 years, then total war afterward until one died.

Did you add any new livestock recently?

Its not. The smell is still there after I clean out the skimmer cup.

I have this sweet, but very unpleasant odor coming from my established 120g aquarium that fills up the room. I have been doing large bi-weekly water changes. I also run 2 cups of GAC in the reactor that I replace bi-weekly. However, I cannot seem to get rid of this smell. Any thoughts?

I treat everything. I am a firm believer that fish can be a carrier, but do not show symptom until very later. I also never had a fish that doesn’t scratch at all without being treated. I normally QT with cuprmaine for 4-8 weeks and 2 rounds of Prazipro. I feed very heavily while they are in QT.

Hello, I want to reduce LED shimmer on my tank. I am currently running a single Kessil 360 and it shimmers like crazy. How can I reduce some shimmer? I am thinking about adding an Orphek or Reefbrite bar led light. Will this help? thanks!
