  1. It was a great show and larger than last year! RAP Orlando has a fun, relaxed atmosphere and I would highly recommend trying to attend next year. Maybe it is because of so many great vendors and friends under one roof, as well as the customers saying hello. Not to mention it is in sunny Orlando!. I already booked my booth for 2016 and the next venue is going to be sweet. We met a lot of great folks and Bill Wann had a great time at our booth hanging out. Thanks to all who stopped by to say hello.
  2. On the way to Reef A Palooza right now and we will get to see this first hand at the PE Mysis booth. I'm excited to get some in my hands when our next pallets arrive shortly.
  3. I can't comment on the prawn egg product from Nutramar and it's availability since I have never seen it in a store during my recent travels. We have a steady supply of freshly harvested marine fish eggs arriving 2x per week, but unfortunately they are split between our Fish Frenzy® blend and non-retail packs for aquaculture use. These eggs are an incredible whole food source and if we have a surplus we may try and package some for retail sale. These eggs are almost worth their weight in gold for finicky eaters. We extract them right from the belly of the fish, add them to Fish Frenzy® and than rapid freeze to maintain integrity and reduce cell damage. If we are able to secure enough eggs to package them for retail sale it will be announced on WAMAS and our Facebook page at Facebook/Larrysreefservices.com
  4. You are totally correct...Geeze what was I thinking. I had the middle east on the brain cause we have been working with customs for a month+ ref shipping to Lebanon. Total brain fart on my end and thanks for correcting. That's what happens when you are up to late on web forums.
  5. We were typing at the same time..LOL
  6. The original freezer bars were distributed by a vendor in NJ and often labeled with the local fish store's name an address. The copepods were originally harvested by Argent Labs in Canada. A series of poor harvests due to improper salinity lead to a shortage in the marketplace. Piscine Energetics purchased a significant amount of the remaining inventory and offered it for sale in a dual PE/Cyclopeeze blister pack combo until the supply was exhausted. This was the same copepod packaged in the cubes as was used in the freezer bars. It was also available in Kg bricks which we experimented with until they were exhausted too. A change in ownership at Argent occurred last year and the new company is called Argent Aquaculture. The freezer bars are still not shipping as far as I know. Recently at the Global Pet Expo Piscine Energetics announced their new "Calanus" copepod which is harvested from the Red Sea. It is a blood red, nutrient rich copepod which is high in natural Omegas and pigmentation enhancers. I am told it is about 200 microns larger than the original cyclopeeze we all know and used before but not much different to the naked eye. As a distributor for all Piscine Energetics products we will soon be getting the dual blister packs of PE Mysis and the Calanus copepod. We are also getting the raw calanus product to evaluate adding it to the LRS Reef Frenzy blend. LRS has had a relationship with the owner of Piscine Energetics for 3 years and we are always seeking ways to be on the cutting edge of nutrition with the newest innovations.
  7. You can do a series of water changes to reduce the concentration of Cu in the water over a period of a few days. There are also various pads and filter media available that can strip copper and contaminants from the water. Just keeping them eating is the main objective while they make it through the QT process. I thought you may find this quote reassuring before you spend your hard earned cash on our product I recommended while trying to help your situation. I hope everything works out for you and the fish! Larry, "I wanted to give you a heads up about a recent turn of events on my reef, involving your food. I had an outbreak of a terrible parasite, infecting nearly all my species, but infecting a goldrim/Achilles tang hybrid the worst. I haven't diagnosed the parasite, but I know it's not marine ich, as I have spent a good bit of time studying the organism under the microscope. I took me a while just to find a medication that would kill it. Hypo-salinity didn't, formalin didn't, and finally studying it at the microscopic level, I found copper at a concentration of .8 mg/L does kill it, which doing so has cleaned all my marine fish. Regarding your food, I am confident that this Achilles hybrid would be dead without it. He was heavily infested with this parasite, breathing heavily, and I believed he was on his way out. Typically when an external parasite gets this bad, fish quickly stop accepting food. Believe it or not, he continued to accept the herbivore frenzy, right up until the copper finally started killing the parasite as it broke off his tissue. I am confident having a continuous diet of probiotic enhanced food greatly aided in this fish's recovery, and acted as his savings grace. I was pretty awe struck, when the fish was at its worst, still swimming into a cloud of herbivore frenzy eating. This event has made me believe that your formulas could be an important link, in aiding in the recovery of heavily infested marine fish." 8. Since a couple people mentioned LRS I don't feel so bad inserting a shameless plug. We have had many people claim great success with our Nano blend or the plain Fish Frenzy® which now has California blackworms and fish eggs. Both contain genuine PE mysis as well as a hint of garlic water to illicit a feeding response but no actual garlic pulp or meat (which can be harmful long term). The Nano is ground a little finer but you can easily shave or mince the Fish Frenzy chunks down for smaller mouths. Koji in Japan who sources and sells some of the rarest of the rare fish on the planet. Many are collected from deep waters and difficult to get eating. He orders LRS frequently to have on hand for getting these fish to eat. This video has a Narcosis angelfish at the end, which are not seen very often. I wouldn't think your clowns would be too difficult to keep eating during QT. I have always raised the Cu to .25 ppm slowly and then stopped it at .40 PPM and held it there for 14 days. I also advise using a Salifert test kit for copper since some of the others are difficult to read/test for Cupramine. Thats just my opinion. Good luck and hopefully all works well. https://youtu.be/vyshy0D8Ok4 This video was clipped together from a Facebook post on my page. https://youtu.be/6ELY_8om2AY
  9. It was great meeting Paul, Lee and everyone else at the event! Our Friday flight was cancelled so we arrived Saturday, AM hung out all day at the Aquarium and then partied until about midnight with our industry freinds who regroup at these events. It has been an exhausting 24 hours but more than worth it! We are currently sitting at Islip airport waiting for our 11:40 am flight back home. We will do it again next year for sure and if you attend I would highly recommend staying for the Saturday evening dinner. The food was great! Hopefully next year the weather will be better because a few vendors had to cancel due to the snow which left some booths empty.
  10. Paul I am taking my wife and son to the aquarium for their first time as a mini-vacation. As a sponsor I donated a bunch of stuff for the raffles, but I did not get a booth to actually sell any products. We have a bunch of stores in NY and Long Island stocking our products and I didn't want people to have to worry about rushing home with their frozen food. I will be floating around the aquarium all day Saturday and at the Dinner banquet that evening. I have a lot of friends who want to meet up and enjoy a relaxing couple days. I'm pretty sure it won't be hard for us to find one another. The last time I was there I got to play with the penguins and to this day my wife will not let me live it down that she missed out on that. From what I am told the penguins make a cameo appearance during the dinner banquet so that alone is worth the price of admission. https://youtu.be/9EgJUc3ZiHg Hope to see you there!
  11. Looking forward to meeting you! We are a sponsor of the event and donating a bunch of LRS caps, shirts, towels and goodies to the raffle. Hopefully you can win something.
  12. Paul here is the link: http://www.neracix.com Hope that helps! Richard at AV is supposed to be attending as well so maybe you guys can ride together.
  13. Hey Paul thanks for the props! Are you coming to NERAC next weekend at the Long Island Aquarium? I will be floating around the facility all day Saturday and at the banquet Saturday night. BTW Paul, Aquarium Village has the new Fish Frenzy in stock as far as I know.
  14. I'm not trying to commercially hack your thread Paul but I agree 100% with what you are saying. Part of my nutrition talk a few weeks ago at the Omaha Zoo was based on the premise that as aquarists our biggest obstacle is often balancing adding nutrients into a tank with how we export them to avoid nuisance algae. I would suspect that in an effort to keep nitrates and PO4 lower many folks inadvertently under feed which hampers immunity which can lead to the onset of disease and infestation of pathogens such as crypto, etc. Getting a new arrival to eat and get healthy after being purged at the wholesaler or transshipper is often half the battle! You and I discussed blackworms a while back and I took your suggestions and bounced others off many fish breeders. We decided to add them our foods in January and the protein content went from 12% to 18%. The only other change was the addition of fresh marine fish eggs. The blackworms and fish eggs permitted us to add a complete, encapsulated food which did NOT foul the water and was not simply a powdered additive or supplement that floats away. How do we know this made any beneficial difference in the health of the fish? Shortly after sending this new blend into several aquaculture facilities in Florida the reports of increased spawning, increased vigor, and healthier broodstock began pouring in. The Tropical Aquaculture Lab in Ruskin, FL is using our blackworm/fish egg enhanced Fish Frenzy® blend in detailed studies right now and documenting spawns, egg counts and other factors to see how a change in diet actually effects things like hatch rate and larvae mortality. From these trials we were invited to sponsor the Rising Tide Conservation Program where the same foods are going to other scientists for evaluation, including a cooler sent to Hawaii. I don't think it is coincidence that when we got this same food in the hands of the frequent posters of the "Clownfish Breeders USA" Facebook group that reported spawns and egg counts went through the roof. We have added some of these breeding testimonials to our site recently: http://www.larrysreefservices.com/testimonials.html So shameless plugs aside, what many breeders and biologists are finding is that diet DOES make a big difference in the health of captive fish. When I was in Omaha I was amazed at how many folks in the crowd ONLY fed flake and frozen brine shrimp on a daily basis. I'm not implying that you have to feed LRS to keep your fish healthy. I would encourage you to feed EVERYTHING you can get your hands on THAT IS QUALITY to add diversity and balance your feeding program. Try some mysis, clam, NLS pellets, squid, XYZ cube, or what ever else you like. Just mix it up! Many dry flake and pelleted foods are heat processed to the point that vital aminos and lipids have been denatured significantly. Whole, fresh or minimally processed food sources are always superior IMHO. Next week we are heading to NERAC a day early to visit my friend Todd Gardner at his biology lab where he has some very exotic fish. He has been doing much research on diet and also has been very helpful to us sharing information so I'm not pulling the info above out of thin air as a sales pitch. Feed often, feed clean foods, vary the diet and your fish will be healthier, more vibrant and less susceptible to disease, just like Paul said. BTW- Here is the new blend I am referring to.... Fresh Eggs: Blackworms:
  15. We will be there for sure and have been looking forward to it for months! Joe's tank was one of the first "big" tanks we ever had the privilege to feed our foods to and Joe and I have been friends ever since. The first time I saw that tank I was in awe and my giddiness comes through in the video...LOL. https://youtu.be/SFXfjyboeTc
  16. Mysid and Mysis are terms which often get used interchangeably to describe the same organism, when in reality there are dozens of species under the order of "Mysida". If you are referring to Piscine Energetics Mysis shrimp they are a freshwater crustacean (particularly the species mysis relicta) harvested from a cold glacial lake in Canada. Most folks use the term Mysid to refer to the shrimp collected in saltwater environments verses the term mysis which has fallen into habit to refer to the FW species. This video is pretty cool and explains more about the PE product: It is interesting to note that Piscine Energetics holds the only permit issued for collecting mysis shrimp at night when they are gut loaded with photo-plankton and also not subjected to 95+ degree daytime temps when brought to the surface. They also use a patented catch boat method which prevents the damaging of the exoskeleton and leaching out all the nutrients inside. We are national distributors for the entire line of PE products and my family is traveling to British Columbia this Summer to see the harvesting done up close to learn more. I hope that helped answer any questions.
  17. Yes, the Atlanta Reef Club is a pretty large club. I hear they have a real jokester lined up for the January meeting to kick off the new year..... http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=95745
  18. Great video! I wonder if diet had anything to do with it?
  19. Delivery vehicle?!?!? You mean like this one? Good luck with the delivery program!
  20. Thanks for posting the video! I'm gonna share that with some of my Facebook fans who are really into angels. Hopefully when the captive bred ones hit the market they will eat as readily as yours since Karens are reared on LRS.
  21. Look up Matt's Corals and Service. Great guy and a great selection.
  22. You don't hear too much about the G. personatus angel fish these days, but they are pretty sweet looking and uber rare.
  23. Ted is the Man! He goes through a lot of LRS flats in that long tank! I will be visiting soon and taking my camera.
  24. You guys need to follow my buddy Ted's thread over on Reef Central. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2002370&highlight=reef+frenzy&page=139 He has many, many rare fish and just picked up the small Conspic from Divers Den and the pics are at the end of his thread.
  25. Please come buy and see our brand new trade show booth at #708. We will be making an announcement on Saturday and have exclusive video footage playing on our HD TV that no one else at the show will have. I promise it will not disappoint! Larry
