  1. I haven't posted on here in month but my tank is still alive and well. I moved to North Carolina but my tank is still in VA. My 11 year old daughter takes care of feeding and top off but I do all the real maintenance everything I come back to visit which is about every three weeks or so. I'm in the market for a camera I can hook up an monitor via my apex on Fusion. Anyone know of a reasonably priced camera?
  2. I have the Bubble Magus Curve 5 in my 20L DIY sump. Produces awesome skimmate, very quiet, never had any issues with it thus far (almost a year). Recommended water depth is 9.5" - 11". Footprint is very small and rated up to 140 Gal. Retails at about $209. If your looking for a cheaper but efficient alternative I have heard rave reviews about the SCA Aquariums 302 (180 Gallons), SCA 303 (150 Gallons). They are in the $170 range. I can't speak too much to these since I have never owned one but from videos and reviews they seem a decent low cost alternative. Other more experience members please feel free to chime in if I'm slightly off the mark on my two cents.
  3. Had him for about 8 months or so. I feed Mysis and Brine Shrimp (soaked in Selcon and Garlic Xtreme). I occassionally feed table shrimp pieces. It's a FOWLR so I don't test for Iodine really. I use regular Instant Ocean and do weekly water changes.
  4. My fire shirmp recently molted but did not regain his full color. The only change on the system that I can think of was the addition fo GFO but that was over three weeks or so. Anyone ever experience this before or can shed some light on what causes it and how to remedy this?
  5. Hoping someone can shed some light or have experienced this before. My fire shirmp recently molted but did not regain his full color. The only change on the system that I can think of was the addition fo GFO but that was over three weeks or so. I'll toss up a picture of him when I get home today. Anyone ever experience this before?
  6. Always good to see people taking care of people. :-) I on the other hand went with 2 Jebao's and sold my Ecotech. Jebaos still ticking and my pockets thank me everyday.
  7. Exactly what I was thinking. There FAQ responses seem way too good to be true.
  8. Awesome progress and handicraft!!! Just one little nugget you might want to look into. I've read of people having issues with acrylic baffles expanding over time and cracking the sump. I'm not 100% sure but I would research a bit and see if it warrants attention or not.
  9. Aye Carumba!!! Found out I had my first jumper today. One of my Chromis must have got scared last night and decided to carpet surf. I didn't find him until my daughter pointed out that there were only two chromis roaming about in the tank. Found him dried up behind the top-off container. Looks like I'll be putting the screen top back on for a week or so. In other developments, I had a hair algae outbreak on the rocks and cyano on the sand bed. Guessing my phosphates were high I added the MR1 reactor with some GFO and things have turned around. Thinking about getting a Lawnmower Blenny or Tuxedo urchin to tackle the hair algae that is left. Any thoughts?
  10. It's gonna be a blast watching this one come together. The length is awesome on this thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I'm very new with the Apex and this would be a huge help.
  12. Booster pump here. I live in a second floor apartment and was only getting about 40 PSI max on my BRS 75GPD Kit. I added the booster pump and then the second membrane to up it to 150GPD. Great investment for me since I don't have a lot of time to wait around all day to make RODI.
