  1. For me it's boredom. The tank becomes more of a chore then it is an enjoyment. I love to look at it, but I rarely have the time anymore. The only reason I haven't made any changes or broken it down is because it's pretty much on cruise control sans basic maintenance. I think the lies/misinformation is another really big piece. Facebook has changed groups & forums forever, and maybe not for the better. I see so many folks speaking on something that they have no idea what they're talking about.
  2. Looks great, I'm happy to see some fungia around more these days!
  3. Oooof, thanks for sharing, I think it's a no go for me! Yeah, honestly, I'll just keep the AI I have. It's light (in both senses of the word) and it gets the job done. Back to the drawing board on these lights then, I don't think I have a need for them.
  4. I don't know what the glass thickness is on the Mr. Aqua 11.4, but it's pretty slim. I just installed a G4 XR30W Pro onto the mounting arm, and it feels like it'd be a lot of weight for the glass. Did a good bit of googling around and can't find any suggested weight limits vs. glass thickness, any thoughts/advice?
  5. Always a good reminder! Sorry to hear it though!
  6. Corals are looking nice! i had a similar issue almost a decade ago, and pulled all surviving fish through a QT. The corals were wonderful to watch and thrive, now I run a 10 gallon with 1 small goby with a ton of softies for fun. My pod population also boomed, and snails started actually hatching. This could be great!
  7. We're going through similar things at the moment, although I'd say yours is better pin pointed. I just don't have the energy or time to go in and clean things up, trim back, or replace/move. I'm noticing the algae buildup is getting darker, and possibly cyano in select locations. From my records, it looks like the last water change I did was 43 days ago, so it's possible that's just what the glass looks like after 40+ days of not cleaning it. Did another 10 gallon water change today, and will also replace the the filters and membrane in my RO/DI very soon. I still have a cardinal I bought from you, it hosts my giant elegance, which seems strange!
  8. Shame about the clam, but the tank is still looking really nice.
  9. hate to hear it. I thought you were QT'ing everything? Interested to see what the reason is/was, if you find it.
  10. That's exactly what I had in mind, lol.
  11. That's a great point from jhOU, larger sized frags/colonies will grow faster. I like to start everything from a frag, and still notice different growth rates depending on the coral. Every once in a while, I find a "designer" acro that grows exponentially fast for me, but it's usually the cheap and easy ones like slimers that always do well, lol. Also, my torches seem to grow really fast, SPS, not so much.
  12. Every system seems different. I have corals (SPS) that grow like weeds, but others not so much. Some of the SPS I’ve had are still frag sized, but torches that started the same time in my tank are colonies. when I was constantly cutting my SPS back, I think they grew faster.
  13. You’re living the fish life, and your fish are living the best life!
  14. Good luck, Milton. The market is wild and unpredictable right now. In my experience lately with colonies is you will either get lowballed, or if the pot is sweet enough, somebody will grab and then most likely chop it up and resell. so if you’re not in a rush, and you want the least amount of work, try and move it all together and be prepared to take a few weeks. If you don’t mind about the monetary loss, price it all to move and then begin your next tank configuration. if you want the most amount of money (which means the most amount of work) dice them up and sell frags. This means you’ll have to deal with more people as well, and as stated, you don’t want to go this route. You could give them to the club and we could potentially frag them out for members at the next meeting, no matter what, you’ve got options.
  15. Might want to talk to @scott711 He did a garage/in wall build that's pretty insane(ly nice)
