  1. I love the simplicity of your tank and all the negative space where you can really see all the fish swimming together. On a somewhat related note, where do all the fish sleep? Do you find that not having a lot of hiding places causes stress for some of the fish?
  2. Anyone in the Vienna/Oakton/Fairfax area that’s going to the meeting willing to bring something to Origami (Tom) for me if I were to drop off at your place today? PM me. Thanks. Peter
  3. Hi - I don’t know many people here very well, but looking for one person to help me move/lift a tank and stand onto my truck in north McLean near Cooper Middle School midday this Saturday 4/29. I’m getting back into the hobby and purchasing a 70g tank that’s currently set up. I plan on breaking the set up down in the morning and the only part when I’ll need help is lifting the tank and stand onto the truck bed. I’m thinking the loading part will be a 10 minute exercise and I plan on renting the WAMAS suction cups to make lifting the tank between the two of us easier. Anyone in that area think they’ll have some time that day to help a fellow reefing addict out? Please let me know. Thanks in advance! Peter
  4. Thanks to both of you for the suggestions and tips. I think your responses rule out bone cutter a) because I don’t want any chance of crushing the skeleton, but also b) the heads of the frogspawn are each really thick (ie I’ve seen euphyllia that are thin where they can almost just break off accidentally but these branches/heads are thick). Haven’t decided what to do yet but if/when the time comes, sounds like dremel is the way to go.
  5. I’m thinking about fragging a couple heads off of my gold frogspawn colony but have never tried fragging any type of branching LPS before. For those that have experience with this, what do you find to be the best method/tool to do this? Band saw? Any tips? Little nervous to even try this for obvious reasons. Thanks.
  6. I believe fairfax county uses chloramines in their water. There are specific carbon blocks that remove chloramines in particular. However, if my current RODI unit is putting out water that has 0 TDS, does that mean the chloramines have been removed? Or are chloramines something that is not counted in TDS? I’m assuming the former but thought I’d ask. Thanks!
  7. Imgoingcoastal, did you have the 700gph overflow? Was it relatively quiet?
  8. If it has 2 drains it’s a herbie. A bean animal has 3 drains.
  9. Does anyone have experience with the Eshopps Eclipse Overflow? Based on the way the bulkhead is attached looking at pictures, is the bulkhead somehow pre-built into the wetside overflow box? And if so, is it not possible to replace the bulkhead? I'm asking because I am thinking about using this overflow on a tank with 1" thick acrylic, and if it only comes with one size bulkhead, this overflow may not work on thicker tanks?
  10. My intention was never to throw anyone under the bus. I was simply asking if anyone knew where he was because his responses to me were always very prompt, but then they started to fall off. It wasn't until others responded that I realized the facts they laid out were exactly the same as my experience. My communication to him has always been cordial, patient and understanding. Like gioNVA, I waited for over 6 months and never received a product. There's really nothing more to this story. I would love for him to deliver on his promise and would still be willing to take delivery.
  11. Fortunately I didn’t have any money in with him either. He’s stopped responding to my texts altogether. I’ve pretty much moved on. Unbelievable.
  12. This has been my exact same experience, except I've been waiting for 6 months. It's not like I was in any rush, but I would check in every two weeks or so and at least get a response (even if the content of the response never came to fruition). I haven't gotten a response to a few texts in the past month or so, so I figured I'd check with others to see if they've been in contact and know his whereabouts.
  13. That’s the number I have. I’ve been texting with him for a while, but the communication fell off over the past few weeks and I was just wondering if he’s on vacation or something else.
