Some things are best left in the ocean

Dang, definitely tough to read.  Especially given the positive stories we were hearing about the PNG fishery several years ago, especially around the time of the Orlando MACNA.

Does anyone know what the state of the PNG ornamental industry is now?  I remember them running into a bunch of political and monetary issues a couple years ago.  I didn't realize they'd started back up.

That's a bummer about PNG.  And a bit unfortunate that most deaths occurred at the PNG transhipment point - but that means that the wholesalers do reasonably well.  Various articles I've read suggest that wholesalers as a whole are much better, and it's isn't a "if they're over the weekend they're dead" deal anymore.

Assuming from there that a well run retailer won't have a huge amount of deaths, that's better news than I expected -  most of the deaths happen at a host country transshipment point and at the consumer level.  The factoid about kosrae is very good news.
