Can't find my island.

Pretty much what I wanna do isolate coral species. Especially the invasive ones. GSP and Xenia.

Every rock I'm googling leeches something.

And I don't wanna add more live rock cus it's gonna mini cycle from die off. And I already have livestock.

Thad fake vida rock stuff is too expensive. And their "pico" versions are way too big.

Only thing I can come up with is coral skeletons.

Yes they'll get full of algae and brown. Then eventually coralline. But i don't mind because I'm placing frags on them.

I don't need much. Just 2 fist sized ones. Flat or domed. Not the spiky ones those get full of gunk. And not the ones that look like hatched eggs. If anyone has some. I'm NOT asking to buy or trade. Or a donation.

I'm asking for your trash. Lol

the few LFS around here didn't have any. They trash them.

Again I'm not asking to buy or panhandling. If this goes against forum rules delete it I won't get mad.

My first idea was buy ceramic Greek pillar ands smash them and give it a "sunken ruin" look. But those leech something bad I can't remember what. Then I thought about okay ceramic tile for like showers. Those leech and have floss. Then I thought plastic freshwater decor. Then I thought. The saltwater will leech the paint.

Going in circles brain storming. I even thought of using egg Crete but they'll sink in the sand.

Wait. What about broken glass. Like the bottom of a Budweiser bottle. No that's tinted. Well. Just glass in general. Would glass work? well that was a dumb question aquariums are made of glass. Okay off

To break some glass coke bottles and stuff the bottoms into the sand ! Jagged ends down. I have no sand sifters. Just a nar snail.

Why not just refrain from putting invasive species in the tank?

Because I love GSP and Xenia. But I want all kinds of coral mixed. And those over take other corals. :/

Maybe instead of GSP I'll do pipe organ. Looks the same and doesn't grow on top of others.

What are the dimensions of the tank? Is is shaped in a way that you could put two rock areas set back in the corners then one shorter on set a little closer the the front center?

Reading box. Says..... 9 top to bottom. 17 across. 11 front to back.

I have a 6.5 big piece of LR dead center. I have room for 2 islands. About the size of a fist.

I was gonna do pipe organ so I don't have to do a GSP island but I read. Worms go in there tubes and eat them. So not doing pipe anymore and doing GSP. Isolated.

On the big rock I wanna do frogspawn as the center piece. And have it take over the top of the rock. And have mixed zoas across. the bottom of the rock for color. And another island for pulsing Xenia. And in 6 months. A torch isolated in the sand.

I have a pipe organ in my tank along with bristle worms and have never seen them go inside and eat them.

Oh really? Google scared me off. How long have you had your pipe organs?

Euphyllia (frogspawn, hammer, torch) are probably a bad idea in a pico. They can extend there polyps pretty far and sting stuff. A duncan coral might be a good lps choice for a pico.

I read their sweepers are max 6inch. So if I do get one. Maybe in the sand bed in the corner where they can't get to anything. I measured like 9 inches from the corner I want it in to the rock. Might get away with that 3 inch gap.

But I'm not dead set on frog or hammer or torch. Unless I want those to be the only species. Zoas. Remembering form last time. I didn't care for them too much. I like wavy stuff or things with tentacles

GSP is indestructible. It could probably handle a frogs sting. It won't like it. But it won't die.

Josh, rock won't foul your tank unless it's allowed to have die off.  If you're concerned, bring a bucket of water with you for liverock you pick up and put it in there.  Unless it's fresh out of the ocean and covered with life, it's probably not going to suffer a lot of die off.

In the alternative, people are always getting rid of rubble rock.  I've got an entire tub in my front yard that I need to dispose of.  Will be listing it soon in the for sale section as a freebie, join up if you're interested in some.  Could be that I use it as a yard decoration instead, but I haven't done that for the past 2 years that it's been sitting there so that's unlikely.  There are always people giving away chunks of rock.

By the way, you can always just rough up some PVC and use that to grow it on as well.

I picked up a fist sized piece from a member here said its been in his system a year. And it was completely covered in water. But stood out of the tank in a bucket of water for about 2 hours. It's hot out. Should be ok right ? I didn't check the ammonia but I dosed prime anyway just to be safe.

The rock itself was full of life. Brittle stars. Stromtella snails tube worms feather dusters. All survived.
