My pH has been slowly increasing this past week. Has gone from 7.9 to 9.8. What can lead to this type of increase. Has been steady for months and now it is moving.

What are you measuring it with and is it calibrated?

If your tank looks the same, my bet is that your probe is drifting (for whatever reason) or the device is inaccurate. Try cleaning the bulb on the probe with a soft toothbrush and check it in calibration fluid.

Thanks.  Tank does look the same and have not dosed anything other than the kalkwasser that goes in with my top off.  I will recheck the probe tonight.

All is good. Sensor died today. Am guessing time for a new battery :)

Makes sense. A tank with a 9.8 pH would be showing all sorts of problems. In fact, you wouldn't be writing about pH. You'd probably be writing about everything dying or being really, really, really stressed.

Yeah the title would be "Tank crash". I wish I could just change a battery and have perfect parameters!!

Changed the battery and all is well. Going to recalibrate tomorrow. Plan to clean the sump a bit, do a water change, and generally clean things up. Just finished putting together an A vast carbon reactor. That will go in tomorrow in place of the old reactor. A vast makes a very nice product. Dan is an awesome guy.
