Swabbie tuning

I have noticed that when i take my swabbie lid out to clean that there is a thick (almost an inch) layer of gunk that is collected near the upper 25% of the wiper blade. this happens over a period of time.

I've also seen on occasion that it got kinda big enuf to have fallen back into the skimmer body and sit on a part of the bubble making section near the bottom of the skimmer. It didn't disintegrate on its own and i had to manually break the clump.

the 2nd wouldn't happen if i wasn't gathering so much gunk on the blade to begin with.

any suggestions on what i could be doing to make this better.

1) increase skimmate level more ?

2) how often should the wiper be cleaned.

also just a suggestion ...atm i have to take the lid long with the wire when i clean... maybe a dc plug on the motor would help to disconnect the wire from the motor housing to allow only the lid to be taken without removing the cable.

it sounds like you're skimming rather dry. Bump up the water level just a bit and see if the buildup takes longer to form.

The wiper should be cleaned basically whenever it gets to the point you described, i.e., when chunks are starting to impede skimmer performance.

We have looked into AC quick disconnects but I think the only waterproof ones we've found were DC only.
